I love these! I read these chapters a long time ago on Webtoon but the reread experience in physical book form is like coming home.
In this volume, I loved seeing Persephone and Hades open up and communicate with one another. Persephone's therapy session was also well done. The short bonus chapter at the end was very heartwarming.
These are so good for busting slumps!

By golly, she did it again! Fully invested in this precious little romance story even though I have little to no interest in Greek mythology. Doesn’t even matter. Here for the vibes. The total panel to kissing ratio is way off though.
Isn't it wonderful when everything begins to fall apart? That makes it sound like the various threads in the Olympus tapestry haven't been unraveling from the beginning, doesn't it? But the weak spots are really starting to show now, and it's positively delicious. (Coming from a person who hates Soap Operas and similar dramas)
Or maybe it's simply because so many are finally getting the comeuppance they deserve.
The introduction of Chiron as a medicine-weary psychologist is absolutely brilliant, too. (Where was a calming voice of reason in the disaster of mythology, anyway?) The chapters not only provide a much-needed breather for the tension, but they serve as an anchor of reality in this fantasy and a reminder for the real world - without hitting you over the head with the message of, "It's okay not to be okay." Ms. Smythe handles it so well, and she deserves a standing ovation for something that is, at its root, so simple and often ends up cluttered and overblown in writing these days.
I'm wholly invested in the story, of course, but I've also found this yearning to dive back into studies of Greek and Roman mythology through the reading. I'd forgotten Daphne and Apollo until this volume, but those chapters brought everything rushing back. Now I find myself wondering what else I've overlooked or forgotten since high school.
A gift I thank Ms. Smythe for because wanting to learn (or re-learn) is never a bad thing.

Now I weep because the next book isn’t out yet and the webtoon is behind a paywall 🥲 I’ll just have to enjoy my handful of free episodes per day bc I can’t let this story wait for another book to come out when I know it’s out there on the internet!!
