Twisted perfection

This was a complete change up to the other Rosemary Beach books as with Rush and Blaire getting their HEA it was time to move onto a new couple.

The main characters are Wood who we've known since book 1 in the series and Della who we were briefly introduced to in book 3. The timeline is a bit of a crossover with book three but not a lot. Woods first meets Della at the start of her story where her friend has given her a car and told her to go forth into the world and find herself. The two have a one night stand and then think nothing of it, until they meet up again months later Della having been fired from her job. She ends up in Rosemary and goes to the country club for a job. Woods, who is now engaged simply cannot stay away from her. But with Della's difficult past and her family challenges with mental health she struggles to be the person Woods needs.

The secondary characters in this book are Bethy, Jimmy and Tripp. Bethy is still with Jace and working at the club so is almost a mentor for Della. Jimmy is the gay best friend to almost all the girls at Rosemary, he is also still very serious about his job and likes Della because she's a good worker. Tripp loans Della the use of his apartment in Rosemary and sits and lets Woods have her even though he clearly has a thing for her.

The storyline isn't the most original but it is a quick and easy read and actually I did think Della's back story was very heart hitting. The pacing is good and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I will say however that I am only really sticking with this series for the Grant and Harlow story which I believe comes after Della and Woods.

3 stars

I love this book. Woods is sexy as hell. He is so sweet, he melted my heart!! Can't wait for the next book! Every book by Abbi Glines is a must read.

Another great story from Abbi! I can't wait to see all the issues that will be in the next book.

Abbi lines has done it again!! Such an amazing read. Read it in one sitting. It's hot and full if drama. Fall can not come quick enough for simple perfection.

I didn't think I could love anyone as much as Rush- but man, Woods gives him a run for his money. We can see from the man in this book that his compassion and kindness to Blaire wasn't just romantic interest- Woods has soul, he has depth, and he's a nurturer underneath it all.

Della is broken, vulnerable, and tentative, but also fierce and open. The two of them together have everything you want in an Abbi book- overprotective alpha man, oodles of "baby" usage, hot and passionate bedroom time, emotional and flawed characters, and all the miscommunication and new adult angst. Bonus for seeing some of our other characters and how they are doing.

Where is the Adelet? I'm right here boys, right here :D
Her 'Deli Della'ya bir Woods lazım :D

I hardly ever do this, but this one gets a one star rating from me. I hate to give one stars out, but I can't deny it ... I HATED this book. If I weren't so neurotic about needing to finish books that I start I would have given up after a hundred pages. Obviously there are a lot out there who loved the book, so maybe it's a personal taste thing, but there it is ... I didn't care for this book at all.

What I liked:

The way that Woods cared for Della during her breakdowns.

And ...

That's it. I hated everything else about this story. Woods was one of my favorite secondary characters of the Too Far series. He started out as kind of a cad, but I think that that was because he was being described in Rush's point of view. By the end of the book it was clear that he was a guy with a heart of gold. He was put in a horrible situation by his father. By the end of that series I sometimes wanted for him to be the one to hold Blaire's heart instead of Rush. So even though I only mildly enjoyed the Too Far series I did want to continue on to see Woods get his HEA.

I wish I had just left it at that. In this story I learned to HATE Woods. Yes, it is apparent by the end that he still has that mega heart of gold. He doesn't run from Della, despite her incredibly difficult mental situation. He ends up making the right choice for her. So that's all good. Here is what I hated about him. Every. Single. Thought in his head regarding Della for at least two thirds of the book was explicitly sexual. Apparently he falls in love with her. Why? Is it because of each body part that he feels the need to compulsively comment on in every single conversation with her? Is it because of all of his sexual dreams about her? It certainly couldn't be her MIND because the two of them have only actually had a conversation for about one tenth of the book. If he isn't thinking about sex, they are just having sex. Over and over and over again. It was tedious. It was monotonous. And in my opinion it was lazy writing by the author. Here's the plan: Write lots and lots of steamy sex scenes and then maybe the readers will forget that there needs to actually be a plot. If they spend all their time kissing, we won't have to mess with actually discovering deeper things about these two characters. The sad thing is, there are actually interesting things that could have been explored deeper. There are actually people out there who have had to deal with mentally unstable parents, and there are issues that require more than a good roll in the hay to undo. There are actually sons and daughters out there who are forced into lives they hate by parents who manipulate them. But these issues are side issues in this book. Get this straight. This is a sex book. That is the primary function of this book. If you care to disagree, take a moment to count all of the pages where sex is actually occurring or being talked/thought about. See what is left. Not much.

Frankly, I am disturbed thinking that there are young women out there who find Woods to be a desirable character. Is this really what you want out of life? A guy who sleeps with woman after woman after woman? Sure, he decides that he'll be a one woman man when he finds Della. But then their entire relationship is founded on the sex. That's it. Why do girls find this desirable? If this is your ideal, it is no surprise to me why the divorce rate in this country is so high. Real strength in relationships comes when two minds and personalities are intimately connected. When there is friendship and true companionship. Then comes the physical intimacy that can rock your world. All of these alpha males who act as cavemen and treat their women as possessions to conquer and then control are so popular, especially in the new adult category. I find them repulsive. But here I am on my soapbox. Sorry for that. I am just horribly disappointed in the direction that Abbi Glines took this story. It could have been amazing. Instead it turned into porn in book form.

So I cannot recommend this story to anyone. I will not continue on in the series. One star. Bummer.
