Reviews with content warning for Homophobia - My Policeman

The last 50 pages broke my heart over and over again. We all know I would have never picked up this book without H, just because I’m a sucker for fantasy and happy endings. But I enjoyed this so so much, not only because it is set in Brighton but because it is such a heart wrenching story told absolutely beautifully. I will think about this one for a long long time.

This book is incredibly well written. The difference in writing style between the characters, the depth with which they are built is incredible.

I don’t think I have ever hated a book character more in my entire life. Marion is so incredibly selfish - and the author does such a good job at introducing this fatal flaw from the beginning, and it slowly builds up until the very end.

Obviously had to read this one in prep for the movie. It made me feel sad, and I wish there was an HEA but I kind of knew in the back of my mind when there were only like 50 pages left that it wasn't going to happen. TBH I don't think I liked any of the characters, but I did feel compelled while reading this. I liked the author's writing, and I found it really easy to read and follow.

I won't be thinking about this one forever, but I am glad that I read it.

I absolutely loved this book loved the writing style in general. I’d like to say though the pov switching and past and present switching did confused a bit but the story was worth it.
