Birdbox was amazing. The sequel was almost as good.

The horrors were more psychological in this one, and you get to deal with the added bonus that is teen angst and anxious parenting (both with good reason). This diluted the experience quite a bit for me as it made it more of a YA novel than a thriller.

The book tied up the teen angst sufficiently well but it left me aching for the mother (and the kids) for what she put herself through and what she had to put the kids through. But she helped them survive all those years so maybe it was all worth it.

Turns out insanity is not just something the insane undergo. It might very well be a human trait.

(Not in the literal sense, please put down your pitchforks).

4...Not quite as suspenseful as the first novel for me! And I don't want to give away to much but I wanted more from the ending, I wanted more from the camp they found at the end of the first novel!

(Writing this review a little late, oops)

This book was... okay. However I think without the word "teens" it would've been much shorter. Their journey was interesting and a logical progression from the first book, but the twist at the end was just too hard to believe.

It's tough for me. I'm not a fan of the author's style, but the ideas are delicious. And the author seems like such a genuinely nice person.

What kills me, is the repetition of words and thoughts and so very little movement and action happening/being described. Just kills me, man.

It's a really quick read, the ideas are delightful. Follows up very well to Bird Box.

Best thing I've read in a long time is the gracious and thoughtful and inspiring Acknowledgements at the end of the book. For serious, that's the kind of thing you need to read every day to get you motivated and encouraged to put your ass on the chair and write all the words. Brilliant.

Not my highest rated but definitely my favorite book of 2020! Releasing this book mid pandemic, genius!

Part of what made Bird Box work so well for me was all the mystery - what’s happening, why are they rowing, where are they leaving - and Malorie definitely feels a little lackluster in comparison with some of that mystery missing. It is nice to know what happened to her and the twins, but I feel like it could’ve easily ended at the first book.
