It was fine for what it was. Felt like a lot of filler instead of tension. Despite leaning into a folk lore style story, it dropped the ball and ended up feeling like a bird box or quiet place inspired story that did t really go anywhere. I was able to spot many of the twists a mile a way and in the end left with some big questions about the lore that didn't make sense. Set up for a sequel, I am not sure I would go out of my way to track it down.

Audible—couldn’t get into it. Too slow, really no action.

Better than average prose, good tense pacing. Not to spoil a twist but it makes total sense the Shyamalan family adapted this, in which apparent age and physical difference as a horrific element ✌️

Good book overall. The creatures were not expected. This was a new take on the fae. Seems like the end was setting it up for a sequel.
