I loved this song as a kid so when I saw the book I just HAD to read it
to my daudhgter. After we read it, we watched Peter, Paul & Mary singing it on utube.

Beautiful illustrations, but I guess I need to have already liked the song or maybe have seen all of the animated movie that I vaguely remember seeing bits and pieces of for it to mean anything to me. It appears that it's just the lyrics to the song, but either they left some out or the melody is just really really good when it's sung. The book does come with a music CD, but I'm not willing to load it up at the moment.

Beautiful pop-up pictures, but I didn’t realize Puff’s story ended so sadly!

What the Five-Year-Old thought: "It's perfect! It's so very good, oh so very good. I just love that book so much. I like the story, I like pictures, I like the book's cover. I like everything about the book."

What Mommyo thought: "The pictures are gorgeous, but I really don't like it when books include the repetitious lyrics from the songs. It's weird to read the same words over and over again."

I was surprised that almost all the parents at Song and Dance Time today knew at least the chorus, but heck, if I had a mother who played and sung it to me, why shouldn't they?

Rosie loves this, even though the illustrations were a little confusing to her at first. She gets them now(4 million times in). She was really stressed out during the sad parts, but a new girl shows up at the end, which she is all about. "Look, he has a new friend!"

A perennial favorite. I love introducing my children to Puff, that wonderful dragon who made me both cheer and cry as a child.
