Yes, you do need to read this book. If anything, you will have a new love. It's not team Marcus or team Killian anymore... it's team Agrippa. That is all. I love him, and I will go to the ends of the earth to protect Agrippa's soul.

So so good! Love these characters. I knew Silvara’s betrayal was going to sting but not by this mych! Agrippa is such a good MMC, hoping the rest of the series follows him as well

This book was a strange combination of detailed war strategy/military siege tactics and poop/fart jokes. I guess since all the legionnaires were supposed to be 18/19 that makes sense. Anyway, this book was a great fast read that helped me understand the “dark shores” world better. I really liked the main couple but I have NO idea how they would end up together after that ending, but I thought that after Bridge Kingdom too and was proven wrong.

wow. i have a lot of thoughts like i always do after finishing a danielle l. jensen book. first - don't skip this book & read it before the third book but after the first two. it definitely helps you understand who marcus is a little bit better, but i think you still need your knowledge of him from the first two books to really understand what's going on. second - i'm a huge fan of agrippa. HUGE. he's funny and charming and caring !!! i was actually giggling out loud reading some of his banter. my family gave me weird looks...worth it. third - i am SO EXCITED to see how it all pulls together in the next book. brb i'll be reading for the next several hours!!!!

Marcus is fantastic and I am always a sucker for a broody man, but let me tell you, Agrippa has stolen my heart. His humor and joy in life are infectious. Yes he uses it like a shield, but I am ready to weasel behind it. This is classic DLJ creating fantastic characters and stories in an already amazing magical world.

A good prequel to the Dark Shores series. We get a lot of background information on some of the characters in the main series.

This story had me hooked from the beginning. I'm a sucker for romantasy and this ticks all the right boxes. I can't wait to read the next book.

Tarnished Empire is a prequel to my beloved Dark Shores series. This follows Marcus, who we meet in the first book and Agrippa who I won’t get into specifics about.
I enjoyed this book. It’s written in the Danielle Jensen fashion where the story is full of action and excitement, but there’s an emotional upheaval and resolution to the story as well. We get all of those things in this book.
I was happy to read this and get new content set in one of my favorite worlds.
I don’t know that it added all that much extra to the overall story, but I had fun while reading it and I definitely enjoyed my time spend reading.
