I really enjoyed this book, and the more Mythological approach to his story telling. This was hardly a novel, and I loved that about it.

Reads like a legend of old. A little strange at first, but you get into the style of "old tale" and it follows easily, with a single narrative. Much more accessible and interesting than the Silmarillion. Takes place about 6,000 years before lord of the rings and introduces the original Evil of middle Earth.

This was a much easier read than the Lord of the Rings series and I had a little bit of an easier time following what happened. However, I still struggled a little bit with keeping all the characters straight in my head.
