A sad tragic Tolkien take... no happy ending can be found here. A good story all the same, adding depth to the world and history of Middle Earth.

Because of the title I wish it had a bit more focus on Turins sisters, (also his Mom, I think she is really interesting!).

This book follows the children of Húrin and the curse that is lain upon them by Morgoth. This is the full tale that is told in brief in both The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. This story is filled with love, loss, pride, sadness, courage, and so many other things. This story is much darker than The Hobbit and even than Lord of the Rings. It delves deeper into the mythology of Middle Earth and focus on the families of the Edain along with their interactions with Easterlings, Elves, Petty Dwarves, and of course Morgoth. I had read this earlier in my life but am so glad I gave it a reread as it was even more impactful now that I am a bit older.
