Many of these stories are mood pieces, vibes only, and that holds it back as a collection for me. There's some stronger pieces, and some weaker, but overall it's fine, not exceptional. Short enough that it's an easy read, and many of the stories are quite short as well, so it goes very quickly.

Really digging this author’s blunt, ruthless approach to the horrors of reality. Some of these stories are only 2 or 3 pages and can turn your stomach, but some are super relatable and hilarious.

'The air may appear luminous to the purest of them. -Agustina Bazterrica.

A woman's neighbour jumps to his death; a prisoner prepares for his own murder; a journey on the underground goes severely wrong; a man is killed by the cat he detests; a man falls in love with an alien and seems pretty chill about it. These are just a selection of the weird and downright bizarre tales told in Nineteen Claws and a Black Bird. They fit together nicely within the collection, though obviously some are better than others--I personally enjoyed 'Teicher vs. Nietzsche', 'The Continous Equality of Circumference', and 'The Solitary Ones', but there are plenty more.

This is a nice collection as no story is too long or too short, and it is easy to dip in and out of. The writing is sharp and clever, though some of the plots themselves left something to be desired. If you enjoyed Tender is the Flesh, then I would suggest picking up this grimingly engrossing collection.
