I've been looking for something to fill the Sara Shepard gap in my life (since she has no new books on the horizon), and this might do nicely. I picked it up since it is being made into a film. Not the best or most original story-telling, but it reads like crack. And it has a cliff-hanger, so all I can think about is getting the next book. Well-played, Kate Brian. Well-played.
Totally hooked on this series! Went to the library and checked out every book.
All Reed wanted was to become a Billings Girl and the lengths she will go to to become one seem endless. This novel has surprises around every corner and has many loose ends that will hopefully be tied up throughout this series.
I might have enjoyed this series more when I was younger and heavily into my Gossip Girl obsession. Now I think I’m just over reading about rich b*tches and all of their problems and the poor girls who want nothing more from life than to be accepted by said b*tches.
mysterious
medium-paced
I kind of see this series as becoming a sort-of older version of Lisi Harrison's, The Clique. It has a really good plot, though. It's not exactly the same as The Clique. It has other things going on for it. For me, it was another one of those easy to read books (maybe I shall make a shelf for those books).
I have some issues though. First, what does glass-licker mean? I fear looking it up on the internet because of what might come up. Also, I don't really like Thomas that much. So, I didn't care when his father couldn't find him . I guess I care a little for their sake. I don't really respect Thomas that much either. He's a friggin drug dealer. Who like them? I didn't expect that. (This whole situation is making me think about Brody on Glee possibly being a drug dealer, but then turning out to be a prostitute.) I also don't understand why Reed has to steal the answers to the test, when Ariana didn't take physics.
I have no issues really with the other characters, just some of their names. Reed Brennan I think is a silly name. I think that Reed is guys' name. Brennan is an okay last name. Just when you put Reed and Brennan together it makes it dumb. So I like Ariana and Taylor the best. I guess Taylor is sort awesome. Noelle comes on a little too strong at first.
Reed's history teacher reminds me of my social studies teacher who I absolutely HATED. I do have an issue with him. Personally, I don't think I would be ale to go to a boarding school. I think that's it. The preview of Invitation Only doesn't necessarily make me want to read it any more that I just want to read the next book. (Sorry if that makes no sense.)

This was a completely unexpected read. I'm not sure exactly what I expected but I completely loved it. I was almost positive it would have a supernatural aspect to it but it didn't in the end quelle surprise!!!
The main character is Reed an OK character, fairly weak and easily lead by others and far too involved in what others have to say / think about her. That makes her easily lead and an easy target for the others.
There are a lot of secondary characters and I think we will get to know them better in the other books in the series.
The storyline was very interesting and not at all what I expected and I expect it will continue that way until I finish that story. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series starting now as I am starting book 2.

I'm in the process of rereading all my old favorite books from high school and I am so amused. This wasn't particularly great but this whole series is BOOK CRACK. It's appealing in the same way as the show PLL is. I just can't stop. If you want something super quick and scandalous, this is it.
While this was really good, I'm surprised that I enjoyed the prequel (Last Christmas) more than this first book. A lot of the tension in this book came from typical high school scenarios and only hinted at the darker issues that will come up later, and the book ended a bit suddenly. I did still enjoy this intro to the series though, and will absolutely be reading the rest of the series!
