This time around we follow Honor who is a fellow guild hunter, and Dmitri who is Raphael's second in command. It was interesting to see these two work together, and watching as the two struggle with trauma and how they differ or not from each other. The trauma that both are facing keeps them from opening up to one another but by the end of the book they learn how it. It was nice to see that by the end of the book the trauma is not magically fixed.
These two were interesting to follow along and I enjoy having another couple in the series.

We learn more about him and the things that made him into the cold and often cruel vampire he now is.
Enter Honor...a Guild Hunter who survived something horrific but is a shell of who she was. After a kick in the ass from her Director she has to investigate vampire deaths with Dmitri...if only she wasn't so drawn to him.
Loved the plot and the characters. Where before I disliked Dmitri I now understand and yes even like him.

One of the darker Singh books I've read. It definitely had potential, but I felt like she focused too much on the main characters and their relationship, which made the plot feel inconsistent and confusing. The plot was mostly getting revenge on past abusers, but there were other little bits thrown in with the rather obvious intention of teasing future novels in this series. The romance seemed to jump from 0 to 100 in a very jarring manner. I specifically remember when the fmc was like "i can't deny this thing between us" and I was like "wait what??" it just came out of nowhere.
Justine Eyre did okay. I liked her accents for Dmitri and Illium, but a lot of her inflections threw me off. For example, sometimes she would make a demand sound like a plea.
Overall, a bit lacking compared to other books I've read of hers, but definitely still interesting.
