SWOOOOOOOOOOOON.

5 lovely stars for this one.
This book hooked me from the beginning. Not only was I continually wondering what happened to Echo but the things she has had to face over the last 2 years just made my heart ache. On top of that...Noah. He has also faced some challenges in his life and you just know he is a good guy who has been dealt a crappy hand.
On top of these two characters, there are a number of others that really kept me turning the pages. Echo's group of friends (with the exception of Lila) were ridiculous - I wanted to punch Grace...seriously. I loved the relationship between Noah, Issac and Beth...they truly did look at each other as family and it was what they all needed.
Noah...He was the right mix of everything. He had attitude and tattoos but he was also this caring and sensitive guy. He truly loved his brothers and wanted to do what he promised which was take care of them. I am happy things ended up the way they did (no spoilers here).
Aside from the characters there is an actual story here. On top of finding out about the past, this is about a developing relationship as well as figuring out how to get past the bumps and bruises life gives everyone. Some get more thrown at them than others (as is the case for both Echo and Noah) but this story is about how they handle things and keep living life.
I didn't want this story to end and recommend this to anyone.

2.5 stars
I liked Noah, his friends, his story, the choices and decisions he made. The only problem I had with him was he was a bit too cheesy and possessive when it came to Echo.
Echo, drove me mad. I hate weak pitful characters and that was her in a nutshell. I liked it when she was happy, it was the only time I liked her as it was when her artsy, kind of maniac side to her appeared whom was an interesting girl. Her friends, even best friend Lila, cared only about popularity damm how Echo feels, it was only until Echo got with Noah that Lila redeemed herself.
Her parents and the choice she made with them made me mad too. Her mother had an excuse, her dad didn't. Her mom had a serious disorder and reading how she was in the past, she had it really seriously bad. Her father's excuse- he was with his girlfriend. I'm sorry, but I don't care if mom said sorry and dad didn't, he had no excuse for what he did and didn't deserve to be forgiven so easily. I really did not see his love for her either, it seemed forced when he was being concerned and loving, I don't see how you can go from controlling and taking away everything Echo loved because he didn't agree with it/ or it was connected with her mom, to this loving caring man.
I don't see how she resolved things with Ashley, she was awful.
But apart from it, I enjoyed the book even though it made me mad. I felt that Echo's and Noah's relationship was genuine and real and Noah's friends were the most supporting characters in the novel.
This author was prompting a christian view to this novel by making a slam on mental illnesses, drug use, sex and drinking. Another problem is her portrayal of women, Echo and Rachel were both weak characters who when after meeting Noah and Isaiah became strong, what men can only empower women? Is that what you'll trying to say? And Beth who is a strong character became weak with no backbone after moving in with her uncle Scott and falling for Ryan, I don't even want to think what that message conveys.

A good book indeed
However after finishing two thirds of the book in one night my enthusiasm faded and felt like it was dragging that I had to skim through the following chapters but then it accelerated and the pace was on fire ..
Loved the development of the characters

I just found one of my most favorite books of 2012! When you read all of these positive reviews, and when you adore the cover, you will put some expectations on the book. And how wonderful is it when those expectations are met? I put some very hard expectations on this book and fortunately , the author went way past them.
Echo Emerson remembers nothing of that day, but since that day she changed from Miss.Popularity into the outsider with the "freaky" scars on her arms. Always wearing long-sleeved sweatshirts, Echo covers her heart the same way she covers her arms. The fence she has put around her heart was always there. Well, up until she gets to know Noah Hutchins.
Noah Hutchins is known as a girl-using loner, but that's not all he is. As if losing his parents wasn't enough, he has lost his brothers to foster care, too. Noah hates long lasting relationships, and he wants nothing to do with attachments. Well, up until he gets to know the pretty Echo Emerson.
Echo and Noah's lives collide when they are both having their therapy sessions. Because of all they have both been through, they have both put up walls around their hearts. And it will take a lot from them to be able to break down those walls.
Will Echo ever remember what happened that night? Will they ever be able to be normal again? And how much will Echo and Noah push the limits? A ride on a roller coaster of happiness and grief, love and hate, heartbreak and betrayal, in this breath-taking standalone, Pushing The Limits.
I love this book! I had to wait a day to write this review, just to collect and organize my thoughts, or my review would have consisted of only three words (I love this!) It was the book that I have been waiting to read for so long. I can't say how grateful I am to receive a copy from the publisher, thank you!
The pace is really quick, and the setting is wonderfully described. Oh, the characters! I fell in love with all of them, well, except the bad ones. Echo is the screwed -up heroine, but she is determinant and stubborn, I would love to have Echo as a friend. I loved Echo's voice.
Noah is heart-breaking protective, loving, and sexy! The definite dream guy! And Lila, Echo's best friend is so loyal and girly, just a copy of me! What I liked is the characters were not stereotypes, they were distinctive and independent.
OK, enough babbling. No matter how much I write, I will never be able to express this. I am still recovering from how much I devoured this book! All I want to say is grab a box of tissues and read this! Believe me, if you haven't already read it, then you are missing out a HUGE masterpiece!

I'm typically not a fan of the contemporary romance genre, but Pushing the Limits really had me captivated!
A new take on the typical two outcasts falling in love, Pushing the Limits had a very unique flare to it. Maybe it was how both of the main characters really grew significantly through their relationship, or how they started to really take control of their lives. It could have been a number of things that made this such a fantastic novel. I loved how both Noah and Echo were still learning about themselves and their pasts. It added another layer to their very complex relationship that was already truly captivating.
I also loved the characters personalities in general. Noah, seeming to be the typical bad boy, even trying to be one, and Echo appearing to be literally insane, yet neither of them were what their peers perceived them to be.
I give Pushing the Limits 4 out of 5 stars.
