A moving story, complete with characters that the reader can invest in.

Rachel has been begging me to read this forever and I finally got to it. This book was SO GOOD and I absolutely loved it. I'll post a longer review here and on the blog soon.

***************

When Rachel first started begging me to read Pushing the Limits she promised that it was a lot more than the sexytimes promised by the cover. As usual, she was 100% right! I was completely surprised by how much I loved this book and the characters. Noah Hutchins added himself to the long list of YA boys that I wish were real and the relationship between him and Echo was beautiful. They have both dealt with so many heartbreaking things in their lives and I was surprised by how emotionally invested I got in their relationship. This book both broke my heart, laugh out loud, and squeal with happiness. I will definitely be giving the companion books a try to see if they are as good as Pushing the Limits was!

More like 3.5 stars. It was good, but a little underwhelming. I typical YA romance book. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I would be tempted to read more about these characters though.

Nice contemporary noble. Expected more with all the hype on it but it was interesting. Liked it.

I am really excited about writing this review since it is my first one. I got this book as a present from my best friend on my birthday in October (2015) and I have been putting it off ever since because of the tremendous school work I had, but I finally managed to get on with it last week (04.03.16) and I just couldn't stop reading it. If anyone is wondering if this book is worth reading, the answer is "definitely YES". I will not go in depth with the story itself, for that you will have to read the book ;), but I will share my experience reading the novel. The first thing that came to my mind after finishing the book is how vividly the story was presented. It was unlike any other romantic novel I have read so far, and I have read all of Nicholas Sparks' books, and although I perceived them as extremely realistic, "Pushing the Limits" achieved another level of reality for me. I have experienced depression and bullying at a younger age and I think that created a connection between the protagonists, Echo and Noah, and me which made me empathise with how it feels to experience what they experienced. After all that is the main purpose of a story, to transpose you in another world and give you the chance to live more than just one life. That was exactly how this book felt to me. Nevertheless, being a hopeless romantic, the relationship between Noah and Echo was the cheery on top. It was simply that kind of love that everyone wishes to experience, and it was beautiful.

The worst type of crying wasn't the kind everyone could see—the wailing on street corners, the tearing at clothes. No, the worst kind happened when your soul wept and no matter what you did, there was no way to comfort it. A section withered and became a scar on the part of your soul that survived. For people like me and Echo, our souls contained more scar tissue than life.

and this is just an example of how much I liked Katie McGarry's writing style, which is incredible and made me consider reading more from her.

To put it in a nutshell, the book was amazing (5 stars) and it is without doubt worth reading.

Stayed up a good portion of the night reading this.

Reviewe!

I'm obsessed with Katie McGarry's books and this one did not disappoint!

Dang, this was one of the cheesiest Young Adult Romances I've ever read.
Let me prove my point, Echo was always called Baby by Noah. That pet name makes me want to pull out my hair! For one, your boyfriend/girlfriend is not a baby, and it is used so much and is just so freaking cheesy and cringe worthy. It's just one of those little things that really really annoyed me.
The characters were also mediocre. I thought Echo was alright. I liked her backstory and I enjoyed how she was a bit of a spitfire, but I found her incredibly dramatic. When Noah tried to propose and crap, she got mad because she didn't want to keep him from his family and all that cliché stuff. It was so stupid and I really do think that was in her character to add up that word count, which I am so not a fan of.

Then we have Noah, who is honestly a cliché bad boy. I wasn't really a fan of him nor was I interested in his point of view. I found the way he viewed women extremely unsettling. He'd be looking down girl's shirts and I'd just be sitting there like, " Okay dude, stop being a pervert and actually get to know someone's personality." If that's what girls find hot, then I am very concerned. I also found him being a bad boy and doing drugs a huge turn off. I don't feel that was necessary and I feel Echo should have helped him stop do drugs. It just irritated me. Basically, Noah makes me want to do this.

I found the writing to be addictive, which was a reason why I could not put it down even if I did not like it. I thought that it was written in such a way where at times it was pretentious, but overall it felt like at least 50 pages should have been sliced off.
Finally the romance felt somewhat forced. I didn't see the chemistry, and I just did not like them together. They seemed like all they cared about was each other's looks, and that's what was pretty much there in the chapters. " Oh, I want to kiss him!" Oh, she's so hot!" "Oh, he's so sexy"
REALLY? This is a load of crap. I need more show, not tell. I need the book to show they love each other, not tell. Make me believe the love story, because buttercup, I'm not buying into this.

So yeah, I really did not like this book. I'm so confused on the hype because I found it to have so many flaws and clichés. The most I can give this book is 2/5 stars.
