Reading for this mindset: “And I am done living in a world where women are trained from birth to treat their bodies as the enemy”. Was not disappointed.

idk I guess this mostly feels like a book for married women or something, it definitely has A Perspective that is coloured by individualism/capitalism/monogamy which was slightly grating to read (because I am above all of these influences obviously).
it’s mentioned in other reviews also but the patronising tone when talking about primary research is extremely annoying! I don’t need my hand held when a region of the brain is being described and I don’t think other readers do either. also all non-fiction writers should be banned from talking about statistical significance unless they include a description of what it means and they should Definitely never describe anything as “highly statistically significant”
other than that I find the critique of “society” as this nebulous Bad Thing in womens sexualities confusing because… are we not all society?? this book makes no sense without Actual Theory! and maybe other people find the platitude of “we’re all different and unique” reassuring but I don’t!!! tell me what is generalisably true!!
