Stuff I disliked in Bianca:
Bitter. Judgemental. Hypocrite. Slut-shaming. Rude. Inconsiderate. Inconsistent. Has a habit of turning things around and placing the blame on the other person. Wallowing in self pity. Kind of a bad friend. Jealous. Is mostly annoyed with her friends, eventhough they do nothing wrong, and makes it seem like she's the one saving/protecting them.

Stuff I liked about Bianca:
Loyal? Kinda funny. Towards the very end, she does show some semblance of a character development.

The writing fell a bit flat, and felt a little messy and kinda all over the place. Like the story seemed underdeveloped, narrow minded and immature. It felt like none of the characters had any really depth to them, or maturity. Well maybe except Wesley. The only character I respect in this entire book would be Casey— she's sassy, fierce, loyal, compassionate, caring and literally everything that Bianca thinks Bianca is but isn't.

And the whole discussion on "I'm a whore" "you're not a whore" gave me some serious headache. Gosh, it's like this lady Bianca just throws labels around. Including herself. She sounded so narrow-minded.

And the cringe.

I feel bad and a little bit let down, bcoz this was a book I was really looking forward to reading, since it's got one of my favorites tropes going on. But other than the trope, there wasn't much else about the book I liked.

Quotes and Thoughts

“Stop! Look, I’m totally not proud of this. I was upset, he was there, and I just… God, I can’t believe I did that. Does this make me a slut?”
Cue dramatic eye roll.

With it being the day of love, I have a pretty full schedule.”
Now he sounded like a professional man-whore.

Idk why, but I absolutely find this Wesley funny.

Did that make me a slut?
The number of times this woman asks these kinda questions.

“That you’re running away from me,” he said. “You realized you’re in love with me and you bailed because it scared the shit out of you.”
See. Now this Wesley has a lot of potential. Too bad the story mostly revolved only around Bianca.

“I’ll tell you why. Your parents leave you by yourself, so you fill your life with meaningless flings. With girls you’ll never have anything serious with—girls who practically worship you—so that they don’t abandon you. The only reason you’re here is because you can’t take the thought that someone else walked away from you. Your sensitive ego can’t handle that, and it’s easier to make me miss you than to make your parents come home.”
Okay she's such a bitch. She has a unique way of treating people— all kinds of people, but especially the ones who care about her. Here Wesley is trying to check up on her and admitting that he cares about her and here she is, throwing his weakness back at him. He's never done that to her. But here she is, making him feel bad about something that already makes him feel bad. Sure, she isn't afraid to look past his facade and call him out on his act, but rn he's just being concerned abt her and this much rudeness was totally uncalled for.

I wanted to think about Toby, who was obviously way too good for me. He could tell I was grumpy, but instead of harassing me about the cause, he just squeezed my hand, kissed me on the cheek, and bought me candy in hopes of making me smile again.
And here she goes, leading one guy on, while being clearly hung up over another.

Confused, I unfolded the paper and read the single sentence that was scrawled across the top.
Wesley Rush doesn’t chase girls, but I’m chasing you.

Now see what I meant when I said this guy had potential. Now, he's a character I very clearly like.

And yet there I was, judging Vikki for pretty much the same thing. I was a hell of a hypocrite.
A realization, at last.

Calling Vikki a slut or a whore was just like calling someone the Duff. It was insulting and hurtful, and it was one of those titles that just fed off of an inner fear every girl must have from time to time. Slut, bitch, prude, tease, ditz. They were all the same. Every girl felt like one of these sexist labels described her at some point.
Finally. Freaking finally!

It was never my place to judge.

I loved this book! I am going to say that Kody Keplinger is my favourite author. I liked it when Bianca just went out and kissed Wesley. Then that caused chain reactions. When Bianca's father was really drunk because of the divorce and he slapped her. I thought it was really sweet when Wesley took her out of the house. But when she left Wesley because she was in love with him it was so suprising but it also seemed really obvious. When she started dating Toby Tucker (her secret crush for 3 years) I liked it but I wanted her to go back to Wesley. Then at the end of the book when they were at the booth and he told her that he was only dating her to make another girl jealous and to go to Wesley, I loved it! Then she went over to Wesley and they started dating! I thought that was super-sweet! I loved this book I will defidentaly be reading alot of Kody Keplinger! I would love more books like this! I'm really excited for more Kody Keplinger! I recommend this for those who love wierd romance novels. It is very funny and a sort of love-triangle.

I'll start off by saying that the book is extremely engaging and you won't want to put it down. The main character is a realistic cynical teenage girl who learns about herself and how to open up to people and of course it's a love story (:

The movie is completely different and the only thing in common with it is the name duff but I liked it and continue to think the best movies are ones based on books ( even though they are usually wildly inaccurate)

4 or 5 stars?! Let's say 4.5 ^^ Bianca and Wesley and even the others characters were sometimes really annoying, but overall I found the story cute, and I couldn't stop reading! I closed the book with a big smile :)

WHY SO HYPED?

http://www.infinitybookreview.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-duff-by-kody-keplinger.html

where do i even start with this book? no clue but it was also pretty boring and annoying but also kinda good at the same time.

what PISSED me off though was like a lot of things which were the fact that casey's eye color were mentioned three times as if i give any flying fucks.. like i do not care if they were orange, purple or anything.. like that isn't even relevant but whatever.

another thing is that bianca literally lost her virginity to an eighteen year old when she was fourteen? like i don't know if i should let that pass since she did state she just wanted to feel something or whatever but she dead ass let herself get groomed? anyway that's quite sad but i can't judge because when i was thirteen i literally went and did the same but i learned from my mistakes

at first i thought her friends were annoying since like casey defended wesley like girl? and jessica doesn't know when to stfu and she keeps trying to go after the gay dude when it has been told to her 100 times that he's gay?? she doesn't fucking get it.

ALSO that scene where bianca bumped into wesley and it turned into that stupid ass overused high school scene where the girls books fall and yk the guy crouches to help like idc about that, come up with a different scene wtf.

anyway let me shut the fuck up but the way she abandoned her friends for some dick is way beyond me, i could never.

i have to say something again but the only cute thing was when her dad made up and apologized also i love his cute little nickname for her ‘bumblebee’ is just everything to me, yes i cried. i am emotional.

The book is vastly different than the movie, but I still really enjoyed it

I certainly did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was sexy, engaging and an hilarious surprise; overall, an amazing easy read. Most definitely a book I will be recommending.

I really love this book. It was so much fun to read. I really like Kody Keplinger's writing. I enjoyed all of her books. I really love Bianca spunky attitude. Wesley is also amusing and charming. Their attraction to each other is hilarious and cute.

I can’t explain how I feel about this book. The word CRINGE comes to mind. However, I consume it so speedily and with some joy.
