This book was a perfect read for me at the moment in that I needed to switch my brain off for a while.
I can't believe they've made this into a film! It'll go into the 'not another teen movie' category with it's cliched mates.

Yes, I read the book after seeing the movie. And while at first it threw me off how vastly different the two were, I ended up happy that the movie decided to go a different route. I liked the movie better. I did. Take offense if you wish, but also ask me why.

"Why, Vicki?"

I'm glad you asked... well because of Bianca. Yes, B was living through some tough times as a teenager. However, she seemed to handle every single hurdle in the worst possible way. We cannot control everything about our lives, but we can control how we deal with the situations we are faced with. It's very simple - how we treat our friends, our family, even our worst enemy should be a direct reflection of how we want to be treated. So while I enjoyed the characters of the book (kudos to Kody Keplinger for writing some fantastic charters), and was able to appreciate the illustration of teenage life (being that I am at least 14 years removed from that time frame), I more than anything hope that the girls who read this and appreciate Bianca's journey will also learn from her mistakes. Bianca is a "do as I say not as I do" character.

In the end I'm giving it four stars - 3.5 because, like Goodreads says, I liked it. And a half star because, what can I say, I'm a DUFF.

Re-read on 2018
I loved it as much as the first - and multiple later times - I read it. I knew Bianca's story was the only thing that would get me through the French, so I bought this in the summer while living in Paris and read it on the pool on my days off from being a castmember. And knowing the story helped so much with the whole I-don't-get-french-yet-that-well, and also made me want to read it to completion because although I know it by heart, I love to relieve this story every once in a while.

Morí de risa en muchas ocasiones xD. Lo leí en un día y yo suelo leer más lento que una tortuga xD.

It was one of those books that you can read in a day and forget about it few days later. Entertaining but utterly forgetable.

✨2.6✨

A great palate cleanser between more dense books I've been reading lately. Lively writing and a relatable storyline made for a fun read.
