Honestly it was so bad it was good, it was like an epic train wreck that you couldn't look away from. There were certain aspects about this book I found endearing but there was also SOOOOO many things I had problems with due to a life time experience with an alcoholic. (Seriously a trigger warning there.) So much of this book seemed unrealistic and UGH lol they used a "Wuthering Heights," (one of my least favorite books.)
However the banter between Weasley and Bianca, and Bianca's friends made this book bearable 2.5 out of 5 or 3 out of 7 could have been worse but it could have been a hell of a lot better

Forgot how different the book was compared to the movie. Bianca's character is actually the worst. Also the DUFF aspect was basically just a plot device to get the characters talking.
2 stars cause Wesley was the only character I somewhat liked.

I've absolutely fallen in love with this book, i started reading it this morning and I finished it today, I could not stop reading. The characters are scary relatable and I loved the humour the characters had. I found some problems with it but the fun i had reading it completely overpowered them. 100% a new favourite. And i would like a Wesley Rush of my own please and thank you.

This was a pleasant surprise. I haven't read a lot of YA contemporary before, so I decided to give it a chance. I have seen the movie some time ago and liked it, so I decided to try the book. I was pleased that the book was a bit different from the movie, or else it might have been a boring read. I did like the book version a bit more - it felt more real and less Hollywood influenced.
I did have som issues with the whole feminist message of the book when at the same time the main character was pretty judgemental towards boys. Other than that I really enjoyed it.

Bianca tiene problemas. Wesley está ahí. Bianca descubre que si pasa tiempo con él, los problemas... bueno. Wesley parece solo una cara bonita. ¿Pero que pasa si no es así? ¿Y si los problemas de Bianca solo siguen empeorando?
Ahhh... AMO este libro. Bianca es el tipo de personaje con quien me identifico enseguida. Es la Duff; a mi me tocó serlo muchísimos años. Tiene carácter; toma decisiones no siempre buenas pero hace lo que puede. Me gusta :)
Wesley... él es cosa seria, aunque no parezca. Es un pibe genial que también, hace lo que puede.
Lean el libro. Es uno de mis favoritos de siempre. Es bello y triste y genial y esperanzador. Y todas queremos un Wesley en nuestras vidas :)

The characters were so fun to read about and get to know them and watch them develop into even more amazing characters. I love Bianca and Wesley's sassy and funny personalities. This is a very short book, but it contains so much story and development and romance, I enjoyed every second of it.
Needless to say, I will be reading her other books.

Primero vi la película, ara ya 7 años o así. Y luego descubrí que estaba basada en un libro. Bien. No se parecen en nada. Son dos obras totalmente distintas.
Más allá de las diferencias entre el libro y la película, el libro es entretenido. La protagonista es algo insufrible, pero le coges cariño rapidamente y si, lees el libro ya en la veintena como yo, no puedes evitar juzgarla desde el cariño y la pena de ver como toma decisiones totalmente estúpidas. Al final, estamos hablando de una adolescente de 17/18 años. Sorprendentemente, no es ella la que tiene un desarrollo mayor de personaje, sino su interés amoroso, Wesley, al que tampoco puedes evitar cogerle cariño.
Independientemente de lo anterior, el libro está claramente escrito por una persona de la misma edad que los protagonistas y, aunque no quiero decir que eso sea algo intrínsecamente malo (especialemnte porque creo que para haber sido un libro escrito en los útlimos años de adolescencia de la autora, está increíblemente bien), no puedes evitar poner los ojos en blanco la mayor parte del tiempo, pues aunque pretende tener un enfoque o trasfondo feminista: el libro está cargado de misoginia interiorizada. Lo notas tan rápido y desde el principio, lo que acaba por dificultar el disfrutarlo.
En resumidas cuentas, soy consciente de que no es una obra maestra y que tiene fallos que me han puesto un tanto nerviosa. Sin embargo, me lo leí literalmente en una tarde y me divertí, así que creo que se ha ganado la puntuación media.

Tras haberlo terminado esta mañana, sigo sintiendo una sensación de vacío al pensar que ya ha terminado esta historia, que me despido de Bianca y de Wesley. Me ha encantado el libro, su frescura, la adicción que provoca... Y aunque haya tardado en leerlo era por el inglés -y acabé terminándolo en español u_u- pero el libro es igual de bueno: transmite muchos mensajes de forma creíble y nada metidas con calzador. The Duff es un libro que recomiendo a todos, de verdad se merece la fama que está teniendo últimamente :P
