OH MY GOSH. I need to gather my thoughts before I can write a proper review. This book was just so great, I read it in a day. Full review to come!
Re-read March 2020
“I’m perfectly fine with being used,” he said as he pulled on the tight black T-shirt. His hair was pretty incriminating, too. “But I would like to know for what I’m being used.”
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this book! A couple of days ago I felt like watching the movie, so I did. After that I felt like rereading the book, so I did. I had also forgotten how different the movie is from the book - the movie is so much more “clean cut” and it’s more of a very, very loose adaptation.
Any way, I love Bianca and I love Wesley and now I’m happy I reread this.
“Wesley Rush doesn’t chase girls, but I’m chasing you.”

Super cute and fun quick read. :) Bianca resonated with me so much. I love how this book mentions so many things that most of us go through in high school, but never really think about or analyze for that matter. I could definitely identify with Bianca in so many ways... At the end of the day, we have all been the DUFF at some point in our lives. ;)

Disclaimer, read when I was far younger! 2.21.25
I hope to finish (haha start) this later but in short, I really enjoyed this book and I was definitely impressed, it wasn't at all like I expected it to be. I literally read it in about an hour and a half, it was really interesting :)
I had originially wanted to pick up this book when I heard the author had wrote and published it as a teen. And it did look interesting. Other people had told me they liked it which raised my hopes. And wow. I was really impressed with this book! It was really well written ( I can't get over the characters!) and had a sort of "scarlet Letter" (which I haven't read yet) and "wuthering heights" (have read) tie in/retelling feel and both are mentioned as Bianca goes over her feelings here and there. So that impressed me a lot. Including great literature as a base idea (sort of) and mentioning it in your story? Yup. Sounds amazing.
It's also really easy to read. Like I said, I read it in under 2 hours!
It's an exciting book (drama wise) and you REALLY want to know what happens in the end once you get so far into the book. It does have a happy ending just about all parts end well! (in one case I thought it was a bit too easily resolved...the Jake issue :/) Characters...I was stunned. As a debut I didn't expect anything amazing and with the plot and literature I was, I really was. Then the characters come along and I was stunned again. They were gorgeous. Wesley I started to root for once I began to see a possible outcome :D And I was rightttt! And I think we're all a little bit like Bianca inside, she was a great MC :) Her friends were great too, Jess was soooo sweet. And Casey. Urgh I just loved her and she was a wonderfully written character!! Joe was fun and I loved Wesley bunches too. I kinda forgot that part :P
It's really sweet, interesting, a bit deep (all this DUFF discussions...), funny, and a GOOD book. I 'd definitely recommend so long as you don't mind the content. I really loved it and was happily surprised.

The first few pages are excruciatingly bad, but it gets better and it has a good story at the core.
I would give it a 3.5 if possible. It was a cute story.
4 solid Stars
Review on my blog.
I picked the book up after my friend recommended it to me. Surely I have seen it around Goodreads a lot and actually had it on my kindle but hadn't planned on reading it very soon. But after she said, she liked the book but liked the movie better, I wanted to know what it all was about.
Don't we all feel like the Designated, Ugly Fat Friend sometimesalways?
The books was quite straight forward and that's what I loved about it. Bianca is really likable and so are her friends. Of course there have been little things that annoyed me, but over all I liked the main characters. Well Wesley...well...he's the unsympathetic asshole but still somehow...likable. It's horrible what he puts Bianca through and as much as she tries not to care about his words, she does...
I really loved how everything goes and everything that happens. It's interesting to see how she tries to keep her little secrets safe...
The writing was nice and fast paced so that I really enjoyed that book. I gave it 4 Stars

Couldn't stand:
1. The premise--I mean who just goes out and has sex with someone they absolutely abhor?
2. Narrative voice-- whiny, bitchy, and way too many uses of the word "like"
3. TBH I just didn't care. Not one bit. About anyone in that book.
Not worth your time.

Ahhh. I'm so torn. I don't know how to rate this!
On one hand, I absolutely adored it. The characters were loveable, and I was instantly sucked into the story.
On the other, it was extremely obvious and there was no real suspense or mystery.
I'm definitely looking forward to more books by Kody Keplinger!

This was cute. This was also extremely different from the movie. Or should I say the movie was extremely different from the book. In my mind, they’re two different stories, and I enjoyed both
I'm not 14, so naturally I thought this was the biggest pile of shit I've ever read. It very clearly was written by someone in high school who had a very limited perspective on the world and relationships. I've seen the film adaptation and it's worlds better and more realistic than this book. Do yourself a favour... skip the read and head straight for the movie.
