theatre + gideon = life complete?????

emma mills can cure depression

I stayed up until 5am while absolutely exhausted reading/finishing this book. Curse you Emma Mills for writing damn good stories and characters. I don’t know what to do with myself now.

Obviously I loved it.

This was just so heart warming and lovely.

This book got me out of a book slump.

Super light read, finished it one day, accurate in depicting just how random and crazy life is for teenagers. Full of humour, yet sweet and sentimental at times. Female friendships. Male friendships. Both so wholesome.

Recommend for everyone wanting a fun little book that makes time pass by as fast as youth does.

just the ultimate comfort book. literally just pure teenage fluff and i love her. gideon prewitt is the love of my life never have i loved a himbo more than this himbo.

This is my second time reading “Foolish Hearts” and I’m finally giving it a well-deserved review. My favorite part of this book is the authenticity of all the characters and relationships. Nothing is perfect and everything has its faults.

Claudia Wallace
Our narrator is Claudia, a normal teenage girl clumsily navigating her way through highschool. She makes plenty of mistakes throughout the book that frustrated me, but I can’t hate her for being imperfect. Claudia’s biggest issue is her insecurity with being deemed “regular”- a result of her previous relationship. As a fellow teenage girl, I consider Claudia a relatable and realistic character for this book.

Claudia and Gideon
This relationship is such a cute depiction of highschool puppy love. Honestly, the book doesn’t have much romance and these two aren’t a huge aspect, but I loved them nonetheless. Even from their limited scenes, each interaction made me feel giddy. This couple is pure fluff. I could easily imagine myself as Claudia, quickly falling for a goofy boy like Gideon.

Claudia and Iris
I loved seeing the development of their friendship. They started as reluctant partners, forced to work together for school. Mostly it was Iris who was hesitant to befriend Claudia, so seeing her personal development and growing bond with Claudia was heartwarming.

Gideon and Noah
I’ve never read such a positive depiction of male friendship as sweet as Gideon and Noah’s. There’s not much of them in the book to go off of, but it’s clear how deeply they care for each other. I liked how both characters unapologetically expressed their feelings and loved each other.

My favorite quotes:
“You know, like one of those intrinsic facts you’ve always known about yourself. […] I’m Gideon Prewitt, and Noah Edelman is my best friend.”

“‘Number six, best laugh. Ever.’ His eyes land on me, fix there for a moment. ‘When you make Claudia Wallace laugh, you feel like you’ve earned something.’”

“I like you, you majestic space prince.”

“Foolish Hearts” is one of my comfort reads, all of the relationships make me smile. I highly recommend this book for a chill, low-drama read.
