All I can say is Gideon is too sweet for this world.

loved the writing and the characters and the cuteness and everything, it was the right story at the right time and i enjoyed it immensly
funny lighthearted fast-paced

This is the exact type of read I needed. Light, sappy, and all sorts of cheesy crush feelings.
emotional lighthearted slow-paced

After reading three books by Emma Mills (this was actually my second read), I can say that she only gets better and better with each book. Particularly in her writing style. It's settled in and flows better, and is very addicting.

I think what I love most about Emma Mills is how she writes awkwardness because it's just done so well. It's not a sort of "oh, haha, I'm the most awkward person ever" done over the top in so many other books I've seen. It feels more genuine to me.

I loved all the relationships here, especially the friendship (enemies to bffs ;_;) between Iris and Claudia. Ahhhh, it all just warmed my heart. Gideon is also like the nicest boy ever, we stan.

I picked this up earlier today to see if I wanted to actually read it or just take it back to the library and suddenly I read the whole damn thing. It was one of the best YA contemporaries I've ever read. The writing was great. I loved the characters and that they were flawed, but also lovely. It was just such a nice read. I would highly recommend it if YA contemporaries are your thing!

“it’s just easier to never start something than to have to see it end.”

this book has everything you could ever want from a book:
* enemies to friends
* wholesome relationships
* boy-bands (that’s what teenage years are all about, right?)
* awkward real life moments ™
* random knitting & milkshakes
* Shakespeare plays
* witty and sweet writing

it was a pleasure to live in this book, even if only for a few fleeting moments. i would 100% recommend reading this if you haven’t already!

This book was YA perfection for me. Cute, funny, great friendships, great family relationships all around, some drama but nothing over the top, strong Heroine and the perfect Book Boyfriend. Gideon, oh Gideon, how I swooned.
“Look at those eyes, you could get fucking lost in them.”
“You need GoogleMaps to find your way out of my eyes,” Gideon says
“Number six, best laugh. Ever.” His eyes land on me, fix there for a moment. “When you make Claudia Wallace laugh, you feel like you’ve earned something.”
This one made me laugh (mostly over Gideon)
“Did you, like, read a book on gaming?” I say. “I read the Internet. It told me all about it.” “You read the entire Internet?” “Yup. I also learned a lot about Communism and sleight of hand magic.”
and even brought on the watery eyes once or twice. I will definitely be looking into her other books as I've heard wonderful things about those as well.

This was sooo good! I haven't been loving contemporary lately but this was just the book to get me back into YA contemporary again! This was such a great light story about friendship. It wasn't a heavy contemporary, just a fun-loving high school backdrop with quirky characters and realistic dialogue. Definitely interested in reading more by Emma Mills!

this was SO cute. i don't think i've read a YA in so long that made me laugh a LOT, nor one that just read really nicely? the characters were so fleshed out, and while it was a compact and short read for me, there were so many nice elements. the boy band craze, the video game, theater, and more- this was just so fun! this is definitely a new favorite contemporary YA, i'll have to hold myself back from reading it so soon after. i do plan to INHALE mills' other book(s?) next. also, the book jacket is SO pretty, and the cover is too! gah i just loved this.
