A great example of Native American literature. I love his play on Native American and Christian religious mythology.

A lot of different narrative threads that are kind of unwieldy, but once you get into it, the way all the stories come together is really nice. Great fantastical, magical realism moments along with some pretty biting commentaries on Native American lifestyles and creation stories, and how the two have meshed--and in many cases clashed.

This is one of my top 3 all-time favourite books (Thomas King is, simply put, a truly brilliant writer). Every time I read this story I feel like I'm catching up with an old friend. Green Grass Running Water is filled with symbolism, new beginnings, questions surrounding spirituality, and stereotypes. Bonus points if you're familiar with Hawkeye, Lone Ranger, Ishmael, and Robinson Crusoe and their associated counterparts. More points again if you know your history. Finally, Coyote is hands-down my favourite character, as he embodies all of us in some capacity.

DID NOT FINISH: 76%

Loved this very much, such intelligent and humorous writing. Time got away from me and I did not finish the book but I know I will one day soon.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrative is unique and interesting and the characters are beautiful. Well worth the read

For a long portion of this book.... I wanst into it... Then I was... Overall pretty good

This was a fantastic way to describe cultural appropriation. Thomas King loves mythopoeic storytelling. For me, he is like a quasi-cousin to Neil Gaiman in that he is an elemental world builder. He adeptly combines worlds and creates insight into the original ones. Thank you, Thomas.

Thomas King could write the most boring story I've ever heard and I'd thank him for it. (This is not that)
