Pleasure and Guilt has some great analyses and points, but suffers from some unclear/dense language and too-brief explanations of some lines of discussion. The author places too much emphasis on the Grand Tour as being the most important travel narrative of the c18/19 (several other critics have rightly critiqued that claim while supporting much of the rest of the work), but overall, useful to those interested in overviews of travel writing in the century - just be prepared to sometimes be confused as to how all the various points connect. A formal conclusion may helped with bringing all of this together, instead of the rather abrupt ending of the fifth chapter.
