eden and eli have permanently branded themselves onto my heart ♾. their relationship is so toxic, obsessive and codependent and I love it. this is definitely my favorite book of the year 💚. eden rain is one of my favorite female leads ever <3.
some of my favorite quotes ↓
“I can’t get enough of you. I can’t stop thinking about you, dreaming about you. I have nightmares where you run away from me, and you never look back.”
“You’re everything I’ve ever dreamed of.”
“If you were to ever leave, I just don’t think I could breathe without you.”
“I am obsessed with every part of you.”
“I want to break his ribs, just to curl against his heart. He wants to snap my neck, so I can’t ever walk away.”
*the only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because there was some other women scenes/drama.

I understand why some people didn’t like the book because it’s character based rather than plot so if you don’t like the main characters, it’s best to put the book down. I personally have a hate/love relationship with EliEden as a couple and as individuals.
It seems like Eden doesn’t know what she wants half the time. She tells Eli about her sexual fantasy and when Eli say it’s okay to have them that that it doesn’t mean they have to do them. She pushes him, then Eli hesitates and says he’s worried he might hurt/kill her. She responds with “Its okay if it’s you.” They do it and then she gets upset with him. Eli gets confused and I,the reader, do as well.
I never understood Eden’s obsession with Winslet. She constantly looked at her missing flyers before she met either Eli or Dom. And when she did she kept asking about their relationship to Winslet and what they thought happened to her and it’s like why do you even care. Especially when she think Eli had something to do with her being missing but when Eli grazes Dom with a knife. Eden doesn’t care and decides if Eli kills Dom she will help him hide the body. So if she doesn’t care if Eli kills Dom why does she care if he killed Winslet.
Eli’s mommy issues is the whole “kids will always hate the parent that stayed but idolize the parent that left.” I don’t like Eli’s mom and I don’t think she was a good mom. It was obvious that his mom hated him as a kid. I do think his dad is better minus the whole fighting thing but I get it he’s scared of his own kid because he is a psychopath. I feel like if I also had a kid like Eli I also wouldn’t know how to handle him. At least Eli’s dad is trying and making sure he gets help, it just seems like it isn’t working.

I don’t like the characters and the book is unnecessarily long. No one is reading about asshole eli for 800+ pages.

Wow. Wowowow. I am nearly speechless. KV Rose, you've surprised me.
So our story follows Eden. Eden seems like she's got a sordid past, but she's moving on. She's at a fancy new school, making good grades. She's making herself a fresh start. But there's something wrong at every corner. Her stepdad, Reece, keeps a distance. They don't connect. Her mom, Lucy, is so sweet and has such high expectations of her daughter that she really doesn't know her kid at all. Her brother, Sebastian, is doing his bed to make them look like white trash. He's too high to care about anyone.
Our MMC is Eli. You'll remember Eli from book one. I wasn't sure how I'd like going back in time to a younger Eli but BOY am I glad I did.
Eli is dark with some serious mommy issues. His friendships are all toxic. Now there's a missing girl, Winslet, with his name attached to her disappearance. When her body is found, more questions are raised.
Eden's and Eli's love story is vaguely reminiscent of Emily Brontë in the sense of....we can't make each other better, but we can make each other worse.
They constantly do darker and more effed up things to prove their devotion to one another. They bring out the worst in each other. But no way will Eli let Eden leave now that he's found his match.
I'm fucked up too.
I'm just like you.
I wonder if he'll recoil. A monster wants an angel. An Adonis of any gender. Not a reflection of his wrongs. Not Narcissus, a mirror of his tainted beauty.
