I loved the first book and I really enjoyed this book however the plot is quite complicated and hard to follow.
The first book at 5 narrators which is already a lot, but this book has 6-7. It can be frustrating because each character has their own plot and I found a lot of the chapters confusing or not interesting.
I will still read the next book but the overall direction of the series is unclear to me, and I think that is a side effect of having too many characters.
On a positive note I do like the constant plot twist regarding who the characters bond with which provides some interest.

I love the whole plot of this series, however some of the characters can be very fucking annoying and too philosophical for my taste. However, I have high expectations for the next book because that should have the most interesting outcome so far, so we'll see haha

the characters were better in this book than. i felt like their dynamics were better explored and the sort relaxed paced (since they didn’t have to kill each other) helped with that. i really enjoyed reading about their projects and how much they fit with each of their personalities.
i really loved the ritual they did at the beginning. it was my favorite scene i think. it really showed the inner workings of each characters and how the others reacted. reina believed that nico thinks of her as weak and subsequently avoiding him for the entire broke a little part in me. the tristan vs libby scene was the least interesting of all four, but reina and parisa!!!!! omg. it was such a good scene, how reina resents how parisa uses her body and how it manifested into such erotic(?) scene. how reina was the only who killed her opponent in the hallucination in such an intimate way! and of course callum facing his own worst enemy, himself. i was so curious on who he would face and himself was such a good option. how he, himself, was the person who destroyed his own ideologies. perfection.
speaking of, callum was hilarious in this book. he is depressed and non stop drinking throughout the entire book and i love it. his petty rivalry with atlas was the funniest thing ever, he just casually slid over to atlas and told he killed all his friends then left??? callum taking selfies with the man that tried to kill tristan?? a true comedian. best of all, reina and callum. a duo i never saw coming but omg did i enjoy them. reina believing them to be the modern iteration of gods was such a good way to take her character. and her dragging callum along because she needs his help was hilarious.
i wasn’t a big fan of the libby plot (mostly because i don’t like her character) it was just so boring to me. i had to physically force myself to get through the pages and not skip them. only redeeming part was her situationship with belen. everything that parisa and dalton did was confusing but i pretty sure i got the gist of it (dalton with atlas’ help trapped the part of him that had ambition in his head and with parisa and gideon’s help they reunited?) tristan and nico were also hilarious, nico trying to kill him to activate his powers was a cool idea. also nico and gideon were very cute.
im excited to see how to story goes (i’ve heard of a libby corruption arc which ://///) a solid three stars ⭐️

I didn't love it as much as the first book because at some parts the pacing slowed and there were a few dense parts. However I did enjoy reading this book and I'm really curious what will happen in the next book.
