I flipped between liking this book to not really feeling it. I loved how much feeling was in the chapters about her mother, father, depression, running and being able to be strong with all that she was hit with.
But there was something about the memories and the order they came up that seemed disheveled to me. The chapter "lice" seemed a little out of place, but there is a chance I probably just zoned out and scratched my head too much.

I think I honestly just had a very different idea of what this book was going to be. I was a competitive distance runner in middle and high school. Did road races through college. Follow elite running closely. I think was looking for/expecting more about this part of her life and it was honestly glossed over. Felt much more like running is just one of the many things she does and it’s not something that defines her for her. Which is good for her! I’m glad she has many things that she feels define her (or don’t haha) but as a runner, I was hoping for more about that.
I did dog ear quite a few pages of quotes I liked and will look back on as I go about chasing my dreams, but overall this was a pretty average read for me.

Wasn’t a huge fan until reading her book but will be meeting her next weekend and wanted to know more, Really enjoyed her vulnerability in sharing her story as well as what she has learned through all shes experienced. Love her rule of thirds, her thoughts on goal setting, and how she mentally prepares for the pain of workouts/races.

I loved this book; Alexi has such a distinct voice I could hear her narrating while reading. I think everyone could relate to at least one part of this book, and it's certainly one I will revisit as certain passages hit home.

In Bravey, Pappas explores how life’s hardships form our outlook on life and can be stepping stones to reaching our dreams. Whatever it is training for the Olympics or co directing her first film, Pappas understands it is attitude with a combination of hard work that lets success flourish. Although I liked the message of the story, it was a bit confusing who the intended audience was. In some parts the language made it seem it was written for a younger reader group. I came across this book in an article about books to change your life. Although I wouldn’t put Bravey in this category I would recommend it for readers who need/want a story of grit and accomplishment.
