The perfect balance of whimsy and practicality.

I don’t have enough words to describe how subtly lovely this book is. It was never under or overwhelming, it was just… perfect. If Jane Austen had written fairytales, this would have been one of them.

Dora - I had my doubts about whether or not it could be done, but I loved reading from the POV of someone who cannot feel her full emotions. She was such a charming character who, at first glance, seems empty but is actually full of wit, patience, curiosity, sarcasm, warmth and love. I enjoyed getting to see the world through her mismatched eyes. Her one-liners are simply divine and will have you belly laughing. She was exactly what the fiery Lord Sorcier needed.

Elias - stars above, I love him. He’s quite off putting at first but you quickly fall head over heels for the grumpy guy. His magic is delightful and his character growth is so gratifying to watch. Seeing his ill-tempered self fall in love was so precious - jt turns out that he’s really a closeted shy boy with a troublesome past. But he fits so flawlessly with our dear Dora. I could not have been more pleased with their happy ending.

Definitely pick this one up if you’re looking for a winsome regency fairytale. It’s positively cozy. You’ll devour it!
