This book is really just a repetition of "Monkey and me" with a slight change in the last few words of the sentence. Both the three year old and the six year old were bored by it, and I was very happy to be done with it.

Not every kids book has to have a plot and riveting writing, but this one wasn't so much a book as a jumble of words with boring illustrations. Gravett writes some great stuff, but this one was just terrible.

We enjoyed the variety of animals, but the rhythm felt stilted.

This book caught my eye because my favourite toy as a child was a long-limbed monkey just like the one depicted, except he wore a red-striped shirt and blue overalls. This was a fun and clever tale (pardon the pun!) of visiting the animals at the zoo, and behaving like them too! Now where is my monkey?

This book was a huge hit with younger primary students. It's a great choice for them because the patterned text scaffolds their reading. It's also a lot of fun. A girl and her toy monkey imitate the different animals in a zoe. Readers predict what they will see next based on what the two of them are doing on the page with the chant, Monkey and me,
Monkey and me,
Monkey and me,
We went to see...
The K's and I ended up playing a game where we repeated the chant while one of them acted out something and the rest of us tried to guess what it was.

One of my new favourite picture books. Short, kind, endearing, and adventurous!

My 2 year old daughter loves this book and I love reading it with her. It has a great rhyme and wonderful illustrations. The text is simple which means she can read it to herself and she absolutely loves that.

Simple story, but nothing special I'm afraid. A little girl takes her stuffed monkey to see other animals like elephants and eventually monkeys, imitating each animal, then falls asleep. The illustrations are cute, but not very colorful or engaging for the youngest picture book audience.

This book is meant for the reader to play a guessing game. What did the child and the monkey go to see? Use their body language to take a guess, then turn the page to see if you are correct.

This is a simple story with beautiful illustrations that invites the reader and audience to act out the parts and guess which animal "Monkey and Me" are going to see. Great for toddler storytimes.
