A hot summer's day, theme park, free jelly, dancing mascot, and a cat.
That's all I could say without spoiling anything. You have to read this blind, and as the stories unfold, you'll know what's happening, at the same time, no you don't really know what's happening.
Bizarre, unsettling and apocalyptic maybe?
3.5 stars.

I read this utterly disturbing novel in one day. It had me hooked from the premise and having the first few chapters retell the same day, same occurrence from different POVs, to slowly let the reader see the larger picture of what occurred in the novel, also really intrigued me.
The only reason I am not giving this five stars is because I wish there had been some more explanation as to why the Jelly Massacre even happened. It’s clear it had some kind of connection to the devil and a group/individuals that worship him, but it felt like a too simple explanation for something that could have been deeper. And even though this novel does seem to be a critique of meritocracy and capitalism in modern society, somehow I’m not entirely sure what the message was supposed to be. What is the meaning of the lonely cat that seems to be immortal? I’m still left with a lot of questions, but in a good way.
