I enjoyed this but it really didn’t get going til right at the end. There are too many new characters and not enough explanations about what’s going on - you’re left to assume a fair bit. I’m looking forward to more though as the end held real promise about where this is going.

I've read the entirety of the Lorien Legacies and the Lorien Legacies Reborn multiple times, and each time I enjoy it more. I wholeheartedly believe my favourite scene in the whole series is where Isabella imitates Nine to beat the challenge.

Some of the characters irked me a little, and I think there was a bit of an odd change to Nine's personality to make some of the plot worked. All the characters do have some interesting motivations for the actions they take.

in all honesty, generation one wasn't nearly as good as i'd hoped. the i am number four series was so much better - the characters were more interesting and relatable. as for generation one, this book was extremely rushed.

i found it difficult to connect to the main characters, or to even like them, as every time i nearly did there was a chapter change. it really doesn't help that there's so many of them. (pretty much the same issue i had with i am number four). one thing that i loved about having so many characters is the use of so many different cultures. i like that not everything is about america (not everything, but still mostly).

the general concept of generation one was really interesting. it flows really well going from united as one to this book - the continuation is instant. 'normal' people getting loric powers?! count me in! aside from that, i do wish it were a little more original and not as similar to the other series. and the government is still mostly shit (i see a trend coming on here, lore).

i wish it had less to do with the original i am number four characters. as much as i love these characters, it made it a lot harder to connect with the new ones as i just wanted to read about my old favs. another issue i had was that it felt like they were thrown in for guest appearances in order to keep the readers happy and interested.

Really liked it. It was a good start of the series (or trilogy I am not quite sure) I wouldn’t jump to recommend this one but let’s see the other books.

This absolutely fucked. What a great start to the sequel series.

I loved seeing Nine and Malcom at the university and training the younger generation, and I was super surprised to see John so early in the book. I wonder if we'll see anyone else.

Every character we followed was so great. Isabella, Kopano, Nigel, Ran, Taylor, and Caleb were such great characters and I care about each and every one of them. And I love how much of their friendships we get to see develop.

And yeah, yes, okay, I DO want Nigel and Caleb to kiss. Yeah, I do. I think Nigel being Caleb's first friend and Caleb making a sound proof room for Nigel to practice music in were both so incredibly sweet, and I want them to kiss.

I love Nigel and Ran's friendship. I love Ran, Taylor, and Isabella's friendship. I love Kopano and Caleb and Nigel's friendship. They're all great.

Some quotes I liked:

"'I packed your bag for you, Kopano... I did not leave room for your father's wisdom.'" (2:21:52)

"'I think you should practice being the loudest voice in the room. Or at least, being the loudest voice in your own head.'" (7:54:01)

"'Point is, we don't have to fight ugly with ugly. We can be the change we want to see in the world.

Getting the next book from the library right fucking now.
