A fun and cheesy rom-com centered around a very elaborate wedding. It was an interesting look into Indian culture and I had to look up a lot of words for the food dishes and articles of clothing mentioned. I kept wishing the author would have explained some of that more, but then it might have made the story really long. This is also a story about following your dreams and not settling for what others want for you. Fun, if your into romance.

I didn’t enjoy this but I hadn’t realized it was YA before I started so that could be part of why it didn’t work for me.

This is a great book for the right audience. Perfect for YA readers. I had a hard time connecting with the book but it was cute. I had high hopes for this book and I was excited to reading more about desi culture. This book took me a really long time to read.

Zurika's story was so good. She wanted to go to music school and needed to do a competition for a chance to make that dream happen. Too bad the competition was right in the middle of her sister's wedding festivities.
Naveen was a member of the groom's family. He was someone her mother and aunties were talking about setting her up with. He was also her competition.
This was such a cute story. Just enough romance but more about her following her dreams. I enjoyed this book a lot.

I really had a great time with this one. As someone with a not so functional Indian family, there was something really healing about the love here and I found both Zuri and Naveen to be sweethearts. I love Zuri’s passion and care, and the way that she still feels young, and the way Naveen is kind and supportive and very much a teen girl’s dream boyfriend. The whole thing was just really sweet and I enjoyed it immensely

This was sooooo so cute. It played out like a Bollywood movie and was so entertaining.

Rohit Saraf played Naveen Patel and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan played Zurika in my head

I really enjoyed the cultural aspecs of this book. There's so much history and tradition packed into this story and I loved listening to the narrator bring every part of the culture to life. That was definitely one of the advantages of listening, rather than reading off the page (even while I cursed myself for not having all the different dances, clothing and wedding ceremonies written in front of me so I could google them for mental imagery).

I liked that you knew Zurika and Naveen were going to be drawn to each other and I enjoyed seeing them cave to their feelings. The pinky fingers brushing together is such an innocent moment, but made me internally squeal. So cute.
