Enjoyable collection. Poems I especially enjoyed: "The Moment I Saw a Pelican Devour," "God Stops By," "In the Hands of Borrowers, Objects Are Twice as Likely to Break," "Golden Record," "You Can Take Off Your Sweater, I've Made Today Warm," and "Royal I."

Whoa. Just whoa. I need to listen to more poetry on audio. This is exceptional.

Thank you to Sarabande Books via Libro.fm for the ALC copy!

To be honest, I'm slightly confused and have no idea what I just listened to. But I can tell it was personal and well-written. I need to reread at some point, with a physical copy maybe. The author is also non-binary, which I'm not sure if it came up, but is worth mentioning.

I,,, am still confused. And dumb. Okay wow. Very good though!

I really loved the imagery Lewis employs, and their word choices are very creative and sometimes startling, making me think more about the importance of words. I didn't really connect with the strong religious themes in this collection, but there were still some beautiful poems here. My favourite was The Moment I Saw A Pelican Devour, especially the bits about the radium girls.

The delicacy with which she spoke of the radium girls deserves five stars on its own. The rest of this collection was just as good.

I really love this collection and look forward to rereading it several times, which I think will be necessary in order for me to be able to articulately say much more about it. In the meantime, it's making me think and feel, and I recommend it.
