Anything Is Possible is another hit for Elizabeth Strout. Like and the incredible Olive Kitteridge this novel is an engrossing character study. The stories of the residents of this small town weave together to show all aspects of what it means to be a person. Even when the characters are frustrating or unlikable, there's something so enjoyable about getting to know these characters so well and so in-depth.

I received a free advance e-copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Written in Olive Kitteridge style with a bunch of interlocking stories. Strout is a master character builder and this book is no different.

Tied to her previous Lucy Barton book, but I felt this one was either trying too hard or the characters were ‘leftover’.

Very reminiscent of Olive Kitteridge. Each chapter in this well-written book tells the story of a different person in a small town. At first, I was having a bit of trouble figuring out who the characters were, but as the book goes on, threads of other people's stories are woven in and it became very enjoyable. A wide breadth of human experience is represented, so it isn't always happy, but it is very human.

DID NOT FINISH: 50%

Did not like some of the characters.

While marketed as a novel, this just as easily could have been sold as a collection of short stories, because it reads just like Olive Kitteridge, with each chapter working independent from the next, but interweaving to make a greater whole. But novels are more marketable than collections, so I can see why they called it a novel. Anyway, it is a lovely read.

Strout strikes again. I love this book.
