This is a reread for me, and honestly its not as good as I used to think. Yuzu does the dumbest stuff out of impulse, is pretty disrespectful, and is pretty childish. Mei is definitely the more tolerable of the two, but not by a lot. Also her mom married this guy and he’s pretty much never around? Seriously? The smutty stuff didn’t bother me, I honestly didn’t care. Can’t wait for the next volume...

If you genuinely think, "it's fine, they're stepsisters!!!" please unfollow me now. Incest isn't okay. It ruins families and lives. Romanticizing incest is gross.

0.0/5.0: Brief mention of homophobia, abuse, pedophilia, non-consensual relations, and incest. I have severe opinions of this series, and I know most of what I have to say has been said already. I need to get this out before I go mental.
Heed my warning, especially if you are a "Baby Gay" looking for an outlet or interesting story: Do not open this book. Do not pick it up or read it. No good can ever outweigh the bad of this series, and the content of this book should not be normalized. It does not get better, and this is one of the few times I do not feel bad about saying that.
Never have I had such a negative opinion of a graphic novel. I've read both enthralling and appalling books- and this is nothing more than vile. Borderline abusive, pedophilic, non-consensual, incestual, deviant, trope-y, fetishistic, dismissive, and sometimes downright homophobic, nothing in this story was handled agreeably. I don't care if they're "just step sisters," it's awful. It focuses heavily on the male gaze and is extremely hypersexual- this is not a good representation of any queer person. This reads like a horrendous, fetish-y porn.
I do not sympathize with these characters or this story. There is no resolution, development, or personality. I don't know how others can excuse these things because none of the bad is used to work toward the good. Horrible things happen to individuals, and others write about it for healing and acceptance- but these characters don't do any of that! This could have been a fine novel despite being trope-y- but it went in such an insensitive direction immediately that I can't find it within myself to bail it out. The art is so good, too- it's such a letdown, almost traumatic. I don't think Saburouta has ever met or spent more than two minutes with an actual queer person, especially at the time they made this book. Needless to say, I hated reading Citrus. I wouldn't bother rating it one star if I didn't think it was as bad as I do. If you want an actual romance book, then look to mangas like [b:Goodbye, my Rose Garden|51937805|Goodbye, My Rose Garden, Vol. 1|Dr. Pepperco|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580763248l/51937805._SX50_SY75_.jpg|73472095], [b:Our Wonderful Days|43684704|Our Wonderful Days Tsurezure Biyori Vol. 1|Kei Hamuro|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1561637329l/43684704._SX50_.jpg|67966059], or [b:Run Away With Me, Girl|56801194|Run Away With me, Girl 1|Battan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1611491089l/56801194._SX50_.jpg|94960333] that knows how to accurately portray WLW relationships with the sensitivity and respect we deserve.
