Trigger Warning: Sexual abuse of a child
I feel weird giving this novella such a high rating given the amount of sexual abuse involving children (hinted at and written out) but it was expected given the history of the character. Reyes' abuse was always hinted at in the main series.
But getting to see his description of first seeing Charlie and his discovery of who and what he and she are was very interesting.
Overall, an interesting read but should be avoided by anyone sensitive to the subjects mentioned.

It was interesting to read some about Reyes growing up and cool to see some of the pivotal moments from his POV. The back and forth times jumps confused me at times, maybe because i listened to the audiobook?

Interesting to see the beginning of the series through Reyes' eyes. I hope there's a second book coming as this one just kind of ends with no climax (pun intended).

Reyes Story, from his mouth
This is great! To see his life through his eyes. Know what he thinks and feels about events Charlie uncovered. I hope more books from Reyi'el's point of view are in the future.

"I do that. Inspire hatred for no reason. I figure it’s part of who I am."
Bruh. Why is this book listed as 8.5 in the series?? If I'd read this directly after book 1, I would have had NO PROBLEM with the romance that I didn't understand at all because it seemed so one-sided/not-there-at-all.
This is pretty much the entirety of book 1 only from Reyes' point of view. It explains SO MUCH. Seriously, I wish I'd read it then, but I'm glad I got to read it at all. Humanizes the hell out of the demon-spawn!
