Shadows of Kyoshi is a wonderful sequel. With characters already established in part 1 of the series, we can focus more on growth and adventure. I still found myself wishing Kyoshi was more sure of herself, more grounded but I guess they're taking the long way there.

So this is reparations for not showing the Fire Nation in Legend of Korra?

I love the Avatar universe! I love the fully formed characters it creates and the compelling political and spiritual crises the avatar has to deal with. This book started slower than the first Kyushu book, but by the end I was hooked! The villain was one of the best in the series and it was so compelling to see them battle.
