Absolutely amazing.
The characterisation was flawless, the writing was brilliant. Kyoshi is a bean and i love her with all my heart.
Kuruk is still a flop in my book, but i feel a bit bad for him now.

Undoubtedly better than book 1. The political intrigue and machinations are far more prevalent in this novel, and it's quite interesting to follow. Watching Kyoshi as she maneuvers the political landscape is the perfect evolution of her story from the first book. She and Rangi are also cute as hell in this one. However, much like book 1, while this was enjoyable to read, the ending leaves a lot to be desired. It ends far too abruptly, and it reads more as sacrificing character emotional payoffs for great battle sequences. It's even more apparent in this book, considering it's the last one. I did miss the Flying Opera Company as a gang, though; they were a good time.
One of the most interesting things this book does, outside of its political writing, is provide context for Avatar Kuruk. He's always fascinated me, because of all the avatars, he's the one who's most synonymous with failure. His whole avatarhood is painted over with a broad stroke of him as this flippant party boy who took nothing seriously. I always found that characterization of him simplistic. Yee gives him humanity and empathy in a way we've yet to see in this franchise.
