What I Did Like:
+Humor. My personal favorite type of humor is the kind that surprises you. This is a darker book full of twists and danger but you regularly laugh out loud at the characters and the figurative language.
+Danger. The characters spend much of the book fleeing from obvious dangers. That gives the entire story a sort of heightened sense of awareness. You read quicker because you sense the danger.
+Some characters with enough promise to carry a sequel.
Who Should Read This One:
-Fans of Carl Hiaasen. I see a lot of similarities in their style.
My Rating: 3 Stars

One of those series that I plucked from a long list on Audible when looking for something new and fun to listen to. Sometimes the universe is very good to you.
A MAN WITH ONE OF THOSE FACES was such good fun with madcap action and activities, really engaging characters, and a mystery plot that lent itself well to listening. The narrator of this was also perfect, with an engaging accent and an excellent deployment of varied voices to always give you an idea about who is who in a busy, but not overcrowded cast listing.

If Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams had decided to write a crime novel, this might have been the result. A Man With One of Those Faces is an absolute delight to read. A noble nobody gets caught up in an unsolved crime of the century, suddenly becoming the man everyone wants, dead or alive. McDonnell keeps a great pace with your offhand hilarious comments from start to finish. I haven’t laughed out loud while reading a book in ages.
I hope they make a movie of this. I hear Colin Farrell might be interested.
