Short and insightful, this book offers a fascinating contemporary perspective on the concept of Eros in modern society. The author skillfully bridges the gap between ancient Greece and the present, creating a compelling connection between the past and the present.

If one could grasp, possess, or know the other it would not be the other anymore. These are symptoms of power not love.

Han upholds that eros is a relationship to the other beyond power and uses communist scholarship to analyze love under capitalism and "achievement society". My major takeaways were that distance is crucial and that the pursuit of sameness is the death of eros.

His theories were really interesting and certain lines would resonate with me but then the references and language following them would confuse me so much Id forget what I just learned.

I dont expect books to meet me where I am so im ok with rereading and doing some research next time but considering how short this novel was he really should have spent less time talking about other people's work and more on how he thinks.

Also the refrences to movies...these were pretty bad movies in my opinion and its hard to take him seriously when hes referencing 50 shades of Grey and Melancholia which I personally couldn't  finish.
