City Dog and Country Frog interact through three different seasons. The season of winter is a quiet one for City Dog. The next Spring a new friend is found, Country Chipmunk. This a a great book to introduce and count the seasons as well as mention the rhyming between Frog and Dog.

I expected a lively romp through the seasons and some laughs, but this book turned out to be one of the most beautiful friendship stories that I have ever read. It was thoughtful and touching, with fantastic illustrations. My daughter loved it, and asked to read it again immediately.
Favorite moment: City Dog's "froggy smile."

I just can't get over how much I like this story. I really want to share it at storytime, but I don't want to bum everyone out. *sigh*
Beautiful watercolor illustrations and a gentle and sweet story.

the illustrations are wonderful, but the story is a bit strange for young kids.

Jon J. Muth, you get me every time. I like this heartfelt departure for Mo Willems - there are no sideways glances from the Pigeon, no one-line laughs in a speech bubble. Just a story about two unlikely friends through the seasons, and loss, and the good things one friend can teach you.

Willems does it again! This story of an unlikely friendship between animals of a different species and from different background is sweet, gripping, and touches the heart. Through fabulous watercolor illustrations by Jon J Muth, the tale progresses as do the seasons and the cycle of life.

Sweet message about making friends and soothing watercolor art. What more can you ask for from a picture book?
