I took a whole month to read this book. It's not even that long or complicated..

Firstly. There was barely any plot. Most of the book was just characters make out time according to me.

Clary: I've seen her through five books and she's the main character. Her character has not grown one bit according to me. In fact there's barely any character to her besides recklessly being in love with Jace. She legit does not give a shit about anyone besides him.
Spoiler In this book Clary gets sexually assaulted, nearly raped by Sebastian. I find it so problematic that the writer decided to go with a sexual assault storyline without any reaction. I'm not suggesting what the reaction should've been but there should've been something instead of just forgetting about it.

Jace: Remember how he was always glowing..now he's literally glowing. Oh My God I will never get this character. Also from what I remember the whole Evil Jace/ real Jace storyline was also in the last book CoFA.. yes I know he's connected to Sebastian this time and it's stronger.. but whatever felt like a recycled plot.

Sebastian: Why do we call him this when his name's actually Jonathan.
Spoiler What really pisses me off is that that sexual assault scene was a plot device to show Sebastian as irredeemable. Also what's up with all the incest anyway.

Simon: I do actually like his family's role in his storyline. He tells his sister. But then that's it. Since everyone's being paired up, he got paired up with Isabelle again. She probably conveniently forgot about the time he two timed her, Idk.

Maia and Jordan: In my last review I said I wanted to see more of these interesting characters, I did not however mean together. Jordan was an interesting character but let's not forget he beat her up and turned her for whatever reason. Now all their doing is making out..

Spoiler How on earth did this new vampire kill Camille who is old and powerful. WTF. Probably why I'll read the last book.

Oh yes Magnus and Alec broke up too. But I wasn't really invested in that relationship also Alec was a total dick.

Whatever I guess. It's only been a week since I read this and I forgot like 80% of everything that happened. It had a decent cliffhanger though. I guess onto the mammoth and then hopefully I can be done with this cast of characters.
Actually I do remember something I wanted to ask Cassandra Clare...........
.......... WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU SO OBSESSED WITH YOUR CHARACTERS AND INCEST.
I DON'T CARE HOW BAD THAT SOUNDS. I HAD TO SIT THROUGH THAT COMPLETELY CRINGINESS AND I FEEL IT IS MY DUTY TO SPREAD THE WORD.

I really wish I could give this 3 and a half stars, because I'm not quite sure I wanted to commit to 4 stars. I enjoyed this book, lets be honest, I enjoy this world. But I DO NOT enjoy Jace and Clary. Separate they'd probably be better characters in my eyes. I'm so bored with them and that fact that everything revolves around them.

One thing I LOVED. Malec. OMG, I'm so glad to see more of them, Magus and Alex are easily the best and most likeable couple. And honestly, that's what made me teary eyed at the end. If they don't fix that, I'm going to be so upset and probably punch a wall.

Also, I loved Sebastian, but I felt like he just jumped right from being kinda normal onto the crazy train without much in between. Maybe he was just really good at acting normal? Or Clary's perspective was too stupid and naive to see it.

Speaking of Clary, am I the only person who feels like whenever she talks about wanting to paint or draw something, it feels forced and not real? A random observation, but something that bothers me. 'oh I wish I had my sketch pad' or 'I wish I had brought my pencils.' No one believes you Clary.

Without any major deaths, this makes me wonder if CC is planning in killing off a shit load of characters in the last book. Honestly if Luke had died I would have been inconsolable. He's just my favorite. But I was ready for it, I don't think I'll be ready for the last book.

And finally. All the references between the Infernal Devices series and this one felt like I was being beaten over the head. Jace reading a Tale of Two Cities, Jace and his hatred of ducks. God, we get it, Jace and Will are related. But honestly, they're like the same person, we got that. There has to be a reason why that series is referred to as the Infernal Devices and they made mention to 'infernal devices' with the new mortal cup.

I'd like to make a few predictions. I think she's going to kill off either Simon or Alec, either will devastate me as I like them better than Jace. Clary, Jace, and even Sebastian I think will make it. I think there's more connections between ID and MI verse, which makes me wonder how long a Silent Brother could live. Could Jem become a Silent Brother and survive his poison? Perhaps I'm way out there and I just don't want to see Jem die. Too many questions and theories!!!

I need to stop reading series that aren't finished, too much time to think about stuff :-/

Can't wait for the next book!!!!!!
This is by far the best book in the series so far(the fight scene with Clary and Sebastian was the best)
