Wow!!!!!!! What an Epic Tale!! This is contemporary literature at some of its finest. So blown away by the differences between this and The Secret History, which I felt was far too long and boring at 500 pages and yet this, with all 770 of them, not once did I wish it was over. Every moment demands the reader’s presence. Such complexity in both plot and characters, along with the fact that Donna Tartt is really just an impeccable writer on a sentence level. Really just so impressed and almost rendered speechless by the magnitude of this story.
And special thanks to the RER A for giving me 1.5 hours every Tuesday Thursday to dedicate to reading. I basically knocked out 100 pages at a time thanks to this train. No idea how long it would have taken me to finish this I without my beloved commute.

this was fine, I don't think it resonated with me as much as it did others but I clocked pretty quickly that I don't know if this is my writing style.

3.75– for it being such a big deal that theo’s mom is dead, every character he meets has a dead mother
this book is so full and dense with gorgeously put together trains of thought and i am in LOVE with the rambling style of thought, but i’m sorry i do not believe the uptick at the end for a second- made everything we knew about theo’s character fall flat
only rating it higher for the prose and story build up- the ending partially killed it tbh
