I checked this audiobook out on a recommendation of Jason Isaacs as the reader, and he was wonderful. But I forgot that I'm not a big Bond fan, and I got bored. Probably won't try this one again.
Another good entry that falls short of great. The introduction of SPECTRE is welcome, and Bond's espionage is tense and exiciting, but the climax feels a little overdrawn. Furthermore, the underwater sequences are becoming a little stale after extensive use in both 'Live and Let Die' and 'Doctor No'. Still, high stakes action featuring a good villain are never unnoticed.

Typically entertaining for this series. The story starts out on a meta note by Bond being given a poor physical assessment due to his excessive drinking and smoking, adding some welcome realism and giving the character a sense of mortality. This book marks the first appearance of nefarious supervillain Blofeld, who has a lengthy and intriguing backstory; I look forward to revisiting this character later in the series. In the meantime, Largo proves to be a very formidable opponent and Domino is a surprisingly tough Bond girl who comes through in the clutch. It was great to see Felix Leiter in his largest role so far, on hand to give the story an injection of humor and spice, and the climactic undersea battle is rather exciting to follow.
racist, misogynistic but by god is bond one cool dude

This is the second Bond that I've read i quick succession. While I enjoyed the first, Doctor No, this one was a bit flat - entirely serviceable but no real life to it.
This book took me forever to read for some reason. It was again a much slower paced bond book. I enjoyed learning more about Spectre and Blofeld but the main action of the story didn't really get rolling til the last 15 pages. I am seeing a pattern in how these books are written tho and it's interesting but dreadful because it's like I know I am going to be reading details for 80%of the book and only getting a bit of rushed action right at the end.
Bond is still a badass though and look forward to seeing this movie to make comparisons and You Only Live Twice is next on the Bond book/movie list !
