I’m liking this series so far. I liked learning more about Kyo. My only complaint is that Frey’s harassment is always brushed off even when Alice or Kyo get violent to get him to stop. Maybe they need to go into his inner heart and find out why he’s such an ass.

We get much more explanation of what a Lotus Master is in this second volume, along with a whole bunch of typical shoujo silliness.
The addition of a new male character was unexpected, but pretty funny. He seems like he will be a foil to Kyo's character.
This series is reminding me of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles because of its characters and tone, and also QQ Sweeper because of its plot.

When Alice saves a rabbit from a speeding car, her life is turned upside down. The rabbit turns out to be a magical girl, and Alice discovers that she has the power to master powerful words known as the Lotis Words. Unfortunately, words can do harm as well as good and, when Alice accidentally banishes her sister, she must fight to get her back.
This volume was really a step up from volume one, I think. We got to learn much more about the Lotis words and their opposites, the Maram words, about both Alice and Kyo, AND we got to meet a completely new character, Frey.
I loved Frey. He's a silly, over the top romantic, but damn, he can be really cool when it counts. I'm looking forward to seeing his character develop as the series goes on.
Alice grew a lot more in this volume. She is starting to stand up for herself, and she isn't so much of a doormat. She's obviously still confused about her feelings for Kyo, because of he sister, but I think she's finally starting to think about what she wants.
We also get an insight into the person Kyo is, and a hint of his true feelings.
I feel kind of sorry for Mayura, though. I hope everything works out okay in the end.
There are several new mysteries here. Like Alice's father, and what's happened to her mother. And then, of course, there's Mayura going missing and being swallowed by the Mara (darkness). And also it seems as though the Lotus Masters are a bit more organised than has been let on so far, so I want to know more about that.
I liked the first volume, but I've become much more invested in the story and characters because of this one. Looking forward to reading the rest, and I hope it continues in this vein. :)

This book was better enough that I was willing to continue the series. I like that they use words to fight rather than weapons and I love that she tied it into 9/11 since she felt that war was wrong. I thought that was pretty neat. I never thought about 9/11 affecting other countries in this way.

This was one of my first mangas I read as a child, and they were adorable and a really cute series!
