I found this book to be a quick read because I was so engrossed in the progression of the story of these characters'. I only knew the basics of the book before I read it so I was excited to discover that not only the twins relationship was explored but that the repercussions of their actions through their children was also explored. Jude is an amazing character. The overarching discussion on race and identity was absolutely heart breaking and fascinating and the rhetoric/dialogue on it in this text adds something different to the discussion of racial identity. Overall. the books exploration of identity is at the core of it and I loved every page.

Another super hyped book.
I'm always afraid of reading these.
This one was definitely worthy of the hype.

The Vanishing Half is set across decades and generations, it covers a vast variety of life experiences. This book explores and unpacks topics such as race, gender, identity, abusive relationships and how one decision can affect the rest of one’s life.

It touches on problems that affect BIPOC till this day such as racism, colourism, internalized hatred and classism.

All of the characters feel extremely real, complex individuals. You get to know their innermost desires, thoughts, motivations and values.

I also appreciated the transgender representation in this novel, it was a really diverse book in all aspects.

An incredible book that intricately ties together family and relationships. A gorgeously told story over generations that was told with so much care and reverence.
