I loved this book. i felt everything.
it wasn’t just the worldbuilding (though it’s rich and wild and dangerous)—the writing had me gripped.
The emotions? stabbed straight through my heart.
There were moments i gasped, moments i smiled to myself, and a few where i had to just stop and breathe.

Everest Arcadia—broke me. her strength, her pain, her heart.
Vesper—had me hooked, fierce and aching beneath all that armor.
Kaiser Brimtheon—wrapped in shadow, and somehow the one i can’t stop thinking about.
Cayde—cocky, maddening, and impossible to resist.

They’ve all taken something from me, and i’m not getting it back.
I ache for stories like this—the kind that don’t let you go.

I honestly don’t know what or how to feel about this book. There was a lot of hype around this book, but honestly I don’t see it. There were elements that were fun, tricky and some surprises. However, I felt like this book waited until the last 100 pages for any of the bigger plot to be somewhat revealed to us. The first 150 pages were just not good and I almost DNF after reading those 150 pages but I kept going to see if it got better and it did, but I just felt myself trying to push through the entire book until those last 100 pages where I felt invested.

With that being said, the 2 female main character which this book focuses on where okay. I was hoping for more character growth or something for me to love these characters but I just felt eh about them (neither love nor hate). Will I read the next one in the series? Probably but I will probably read others before I do that.
