After reading some reviews I had second thoughts about this book. But I know some people can be overly harsh on a book so I took a chance to read outside my norm. IM SO GLAD I DID. I really enjoyed this book and read it in 2 days. The cover is a bit misleading, there isn’t any bloody/gory scenes. This was a very bittersweet ending. The mystery was as solved but it’s both happy and sad at the same time. Finding out how much he really cared for her and that the truth came out in the end even after his death. If your into murder mystery this is definitely for you.

That was fun! I did manage to guess it (a rarity for me), but it was a great ride nonetheless. It really brought me back to the days I used to spend at camp (though less fancy).

An enjoyable YA mystery. It had a nostalgic appeal, as I attended a sleepaway camp for many years. It was a camp for the wealthy and I was the charity case. I didn't make the strong friendships found in the book, but I absolutely loved the outdoor adventures and experiences it provided.

Okay, but that cover? Five stars! It did give me some wrong vibes going into the book, though, but that's fine.
Overall? 3.5 stars. It had a similar feel as the Karen McManus books (except for the single perspective, which had it's pros and cons), with no clear good or bad guys. The whole 'camp is my entire life'-vibe was very hard for me to get into, but it did give an interesting, condensed backdrop. As did the constant underlying class divide. In general, pretty good, but did not blow me away as much as I had hoped from the cover. Still, will probably check out the other books by Goodman.

i really enjoyed this book. the plot was interesting but it did take a few chapters to get into it. also i only gave it a 4 out of 5 because of minor grammar errors :)

I think it's safe to say that I'm in my @jessicagoodman era. I've previously read They'll Never Catch Us,  and They Wish They Were Us, but a good time apart, but reading The Legacies and The Counselors this month, has got me addicted, and I need to get my mits on The Meadowbrook Murders next month.

Enough fan girling, let's get into the review.
I'm a sucker for young adult books and American camp settings, so this book has already started strong.
Goldie is a townie and a lifer, meaning she's lived in the town the exclusive Camp Alpine Lake, and has attended the camp since she was 8, and stayed on as a counselor, along with her two best friends, Imogen and Ava: a friendship so strong, there's no secrets, right?

Of course, in true young adult style, of course, there are secrets that are not told. But when the body of Goldies ex is found in the camps lake, it's not long before the secrets are pulled to the surface, and there's no going back.

I really enjoyed The Legacies, and i loved the reference to Excelsior Prep school in The Counselors, but I loved this book! It had twists and turns. It had love, friendships, manipulation, betrayal, it had everything!

If you're a fan of YA books, I'd highly recommend this. As stated, I'm a fan of the author, but this one is my favourite so far!

I love camp in all definitions of the word. I love camping. I love *CAMP* things. And I love summer camp.

So with summer camp being one of my favorite settings, I was excited for The Counselors. And honestly it was enjoyable! A fun beach read type book.

While I enjoyed it, it also was pretty predictable and I wasn't surprised by the ending so it's definitely not a five star read. But it's worth a read if you like summer camp and teen mysteries.
