Unfortunately wasn’t very keen on this. I found the main character kind of insufferable and the mystery of the story just didn’t grab me at all, found it really hard to care about where the story was going.

This book seems to have some mixed reviews from people I have seen review it so I did not know what to expect from it. But, honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. I think this is a good book that was well-written and easy to read. The dual timeline seemed to deepen the plot for me which made it more interesting overall. I would say that if you are a fan of YA whodunnit or crime-centered plots then this book would be a good one for your TBR.

After reading this book, I do think I'd like to read more of Goodman's works though I am not sure I am in love with the general writing style.

Read for Summerween Readathon 2022.

This was fine. It scratched the itch that God of the Woods by Liz Moore left, but definitely felt amateur. About 2/3 of the way through, it becomes clear what's going on, but you still have to listen to the main character pine after a boy and make mistake after mistake. It definitely could have been cut shorter. At the same time, I think the overarching mystery is interesting and I disagree with some of the other reviewers who thought the motivations of the killer were lackluster.

But all of this over a boy the protagonist only dated for 2 months?

I can't believe I finished this book so fast! I do wanna start off by saying this book turned out to be better than I thought it was gonna be. I saw so many mixed reviews before I even started it, but it's a fast-paced book if you're looking for a quick read. The theories I had were wrong

a little too YA for me, but that’s a me thing! LOL. i liked reading this in the summer though, great setting at the camp! the friend relationships were so sweet. this definitely could’ve been 100 pages shorter though. meaningless interactions, it seemed.
the camp owners killed Heller because he was going to expose their tax evasion.
a lot of things in this i felt like a YA wouldn’t have understood.. like fraud & tax evasion? random.
