3.5. Any story that revolves around Dickie Orr doesn’t work for me. I liked the dialogue which is why it got as high of a score as it did.
Stephanie always finds herself in the worst situations. But I live this series
This one was a dud for me - I was annoyed by the continuing Morelli/Ranger indecision and it really stalled the rest of the forward momentum of the series. The crime story line in this book was certainly forgettable and I didn't laugh as much thru this one. On to 14.
Plotwise not revolutionary, but it is Evanovich's humour that carries this book, if not this series. The scene where Stephanie's Grandma Mazur invites home a taxidermist for dinner is priceless. Especially when she sits his hostess gift of a stuffed cat at the table. Brilliant.
My favorite palate cleanser quick fun read series. This particular book in the series had an interesting plot line and good character scenes. Everyone hates the cable company.
This series of books is very light, silly and not at all literary. But they crack me up, and this one is the funniest. I burst out laughing a few times. Evanovich is a romance writer now doing crime/humour, so keep that in mind if you are considering reading her.

This was fun to listen to. The struggle that she has between the two men is a bit much. Between Lula, grandma and Stephanie I find myself laughing a lot. And the narrator is great at guy voices.
The Stephanie Plum series is a total guilty pleasure. The plots can be kind of formulaic, and the writing quality isn't that great, but they're funny and go fast, and they usually have a can't-put-it-down quality.
Even though this one only took me about a day to read, I didn't have any trouble putting it down, at all. The main thing that kept me reading was that I wanted to finish it so that I could start a more compact paperback to stick in my bag.
I don't even want to know how much money Evanovich has made with this series, not to mention other things she's written, but it seems like she's gotten kind of lazy and is resting on her laurels. I could swear entire paragraphs have been lifted from the earlier books. It is definitely not worth paying the hardcover price any more. It's not like I'm expecting fine literature, but a little more originality would be nice.
Rex the hamster diet watch: Green pepper, cheerios, one Stouffer's macaroni with cheese.

I was really super disappointed with this book. It had the potential to be another great Stephanie Plum, but it just falls flat. There were a few good twists, and it was really laugh out funny, but the plot just doesn’t make it. Stephanie’s ex-husband is missing and she’s the prime suspect so she works with Ranger to figure out what’s going on.
Favorite new character: So much love for one of the FTA’s in this one. Carl, a FTA taxidermist provides endless entertainment with his exploding animals, including the beaver Lula and Stephanie send to Joyce.
Funniest recurring character: Ranger and Morelli tag team with Stephanie in this one, and they also tag team with the humor too. Some really funny one-liners coming from the hunky duo.
Funniest moment: Too many to pick from! I was literally cracking up every few pages because the jokes were just too good.
Favorite Plum vehicle: I have no love for the Crown Vic. I’m going to have to go with Ranger’s Porsche Cayenne that Stephanie gets to borrow.
Okay, so a really funny book, but the plot isn’t at all engaging. The writings a bit confusing and a lot of the time its difficult to figure out what’s going on and even what time of day it is (I cannot tell you how many times I was thinking it was night but it turned out to be mid-afternoon.) And Stephanie is spending way too much time with Ranger, it’s starting to get old. I don’t think she thinks she’s cheating on Morelli, but she is. The good thing is, Morelli is finally starting to take notice and getting angry. Just marry her Joe, please.
