John Hart is becoming one of my new favorites among suspense and mystery writers ! Fast paced and lots of action in this one, although not quite the novel that The Last Child was. I wish he would of focused more on the story behind the story seeing that this was the most interesting plot. There was a lot going on in this book and I think we may have missed some of the best parts of the characters. Still though it was very entertaining and hard to put down. If you have not read The Last Child by Hart I would highly recommend you read it, his best and one the best novels I have read recently ! Anxious to see what he writes next.

Sort of the same character as is in all these types of stories... basically a good guy, but a horrible childhood that ultimately makes him into a killer. He wants out. Revenge. Complications. In the end, it's a good story, if a little formulaic. Very testosterone-y. I appreciate the moderation of language and the absence of gratuitous sex and violence.

What a rush! Iron House will keep you focused on what's happening in the story so it can come around from the back and surprise you with a twist.
Michael and Julian are brothers who grew up separately, but always connected. Michael continues to protect Julian after he is adopted and on into adulthood. Michael has always bee the stronger brother, mentally and physically, and will do whatever it takes to keep his younger brother safe.

This was my first John Hart novel that I won through First Reads!

I love a good mystery but this one was lacking, majorly IMO. Slow start, lacking in credibility, un-original plot line... I could go on and in detail but I will spare you. I've read many reviews that have said this is not his best work so if another John Hart novel just happens to fall in my lap I'll try not to judge him too harshly based solely on Iron House.

A fast paced thriller with in depth character assessments focusing on to name one, mental illness. I like the writing style of John Hart and I turned the first two thirds of the novel quickly as characters died and were shot at, having said this it wasn't gratuitous violence. As Mr Hart wrapped up his novel and pulled all the characters and plot together I was pleasantly surprised but after all the violence the ending was a little soft.

Switching between multiple perspectives, this novel tells a taut tale of broken people trying to reconcile their pasts, presents, and futures, while staying one step ahead of each other or those chasing them. They are an engaging cast, telling an interesting story. A quick, enjoyable read, this was my first taste of John Hart, but it won't be my last.

I've heard about and read about John Hart's thrillers in the past. But it wasn't until I won an ARC of his latest thriller, Iron House, that I finally read him. I'm glad I did. Michael is abandoned as child along with his younger brother Julian and raised in a terrible orphanage for boys called Iron House. It is here that their sad story begins to take shape and unfold all at the same time. Years later, Julian is adopted, Michael runs away and the rest is really too much to write about. Michael is a killer, Julian is a troubled children's book author and his stepfather is a Senator always trying to hide his son. It's a great book and I hope it's the beginning of a series because I would love to see if Michael can break out of the 'killer' role and become a hero akin to Jack Reacher.
